I just use the following script for Firefox, but should work in SeaMonkey: #!/bin/sh # cd ~/.mozilla/firefox cp cookies.sqlite ./nyrs6b6z.default xmessage -center " COOKIES CLEANED! " Note: I used ./nyrs6b6z.default because that is my specific Firefox folder, but if you replace this with ....

Oh, that was what you wanted. Then I think you want this. http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=31 I notice that the installer for Microsoft Office XP is rated as platinum for an earlier version of Wine. In the link, the individual applications are listed at bottom. Yo...

Click on an exe and wine will install it as if in Windows. (If not, set the run action for exe file.) Note: I have a frugal install. Normally wine installed programs are in ~/.wine. I made a folder on the partition, called "wine", and have a symbolic link from it to ~/.wine, so none of the...

Aha! I was used to using all the Puppies before 5, where one entered GMT-8.

Entered USA/pacific. Restarted X-server. Correct time and date. Rebooted computer and still have correct time and date. Success.

(And personalized settings still show USA/pacific.)

Thank you.

time resets when connect to internet [solved]

After January 1, 2011, I noticed my clock in Lucid Puppy 5.11 was way off. Instead of 11 am it gave time of 3 am the next day. So I used Psync. Then every time I booted, the clock would reset, usually to an entirely different day. (My default setting is GMT-8, but apparently Lucid just can't believe...

Wine games: Tomb Raider 3 custom levels

Tomb Raider 3 works in Wine. Custom TR3 levels can be downloaded from www.trle.net. In the list of levels, select type: TR3. Then click search. Click on the ratings header twice to find top rated levels, such as "Lara Croft Returns," a full 16-level adventure by Boris Samoilenko. Note tha...

seamonkey bookmarks: make like firefox's

I put my Firefox bookmarks.html plus user.js into ~/.mozilla/default/*.slt and started Seamonkey to automatically import all my settings and bookmarks. This seems to work fine. (Note: I have browser.places.importBookmarksHTML set to true, and I delete the user.js immediately after installing everyth...

ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics, Acer Aspire laptop

I just downloaded Dpup 484 beta 4 for testing on an Acer Aspire 5532 laptop with ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics. I did a frugal install to match the existing install of Puppy 4.3.1. I was unable to get past Xorg or Xvesa. The laptop has 1366x768 screen display, so I select LCD 1360x768 (closest match) ...

SUCCESS!! Posting from Puppy 4.3.1, on Internet with Seamonkey! I am using your PET v.1.0.0.11-test. Everything works. Maybe PET v.1.0.0.10 would have worked, but right now I'm too happy just knowing this computer is going to be okay. I tried "depmod-Full" but bash didn't recognize the com...

Thank you very much! Have been working on this. Realized I needed to install Puppy, instead of working with live CD. But I tried Ubuntu, which installed Grub 2, which destroys menu.lst and my grub install. Couldn't edit Grub 2. Re-installed regular grub. Now have a frugal install of Puppy 4.3.1. Spe...

Thank you, just what I was looking for, doesn't work. Pet installs. I manually select atl1e, Puppy says "No new interfaces detected." I completely lose eth0. See below about v1.0.0.10 not working on this machine. I have successfully gotten online with Linux Mint, so I must have the right n...

I tried loading different modules and have lost all access to eth0 in Puppy. Anyway, according to Windows, the driver is Atheros AR8132 PCI-E Fast Ethernet. Laptop ethernet connection; won't recognize

Several days ago I purchased an Acer Aspire 5532 series laptop, with Windows 7. I've never owned a laptop before; I thought they were way too expensive, but this was cheap. I have no experience with Windows Vista or with Windows 7. I tried to research this as to whether I could run Linux on it. I go...

experience with dpup-482beta

The past two weeks I have tried Puppy 4.31.1 with firefox, and Tipsy and Lighthouse puplets, so thought I would try dpup-482beta. In Puppy 4.12 my screen is pushed far left; I had to install two pets with an earlier version of Xorg and drivers to return to the control I had with Puppy 2.17.1. Works ...

Bug in firefox version 3.0.3 Tested user_pref("browser.places.importBookmarksHTML", true); on Puppy 4.31.1 with Firefox 3.5.3. I was delighted to find this works. One no longer has do use the Organize Bookmarks>Import Bookmarks feature, which just does a messy append. Instead import prefer...

Simple, quick configure of new Puppy frugal install

Here is a simple script showing one method to set up Puppy after a pup_save file has been created. I find myself trying out different puplets, then testing Puppy 4.30, then switching over and testing the firefox version 4.31.1. Since grub and partitions are in place, it only takes a few minutes to d...
