@nico007 I was just intrigued to see if I could get palemoon to run on a 61MB pup. I am no expert here so unless somebody with greater expertise can tell me how to do it I guess the answer is no. I have tried precise lite and as far as other older pups are concerned I have both lucid 5287 and racy 5...

Hi All, I thought I would try a babybarebones. I have used a barebones before but it was a while ago. I have a frugal install of this one. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0uge_imqIdZYUFkdDBEZFlvYzg/edit?usp=sharing This is the versa only version from page 1. As an issue with these when I tried befo...

OscarTalks wrote:but it looks like you would need to edit /usr/local/bin/defaultbrowser and put in the path to the LAUNCH script in Mike's portable package. This path would depend on where you have put it of course, eg /mnt/home/Opera-portable/LAUNCH
Thanks OscarTalks the above worked.

Hi All, I've installed Opera-portable by MikeWalsh in ScPup64. I have removed the adrv xxxx.sfs so that Light browser does not load. I have attempted to make opera the default browser using "Default Applications Chooser" and by manually editing /usr/share/applications/defaultbrowser.deskto...

Some success in ScPup64 by installing gsettings-desktop-schemas-3.18.1-x86_64-1.txz. Already installed gtk+3 from 14.2 and at-spi2-atk. After following the above instructions I have opera running on ScPup64, however, it does not retain all of it's settings. For example on setting On Startup from &q...

I can't get the palemoon 28.8.1 .sfs as recommended by peebee to work either. Download size was cor...

Hello All, Have just downloaded a installed. All seems to be working. This is my first 64 bit anything. On the issue of full sized browsers I'd like to install Palemoon 28.8 but it's not included here. https://sourceforge.net/projects/lxpup/files/Other/LxPupSc64/browsers/ I have the 32 bit portable ...

Yes, one needs to know how it works, from the (right-click) Help: - Select some text (no need to copy, just select it), e.g. in browser or text file. Then by left-clicking the icon, a window will appear with the translated text. Yep,when all else fails one should read the instructions. However, thi...

Hello Fred, Just seen this and thought I'd give it a try as I have a Christmas card from friends in Germany which has a joke in German. I should be able to translate it myself as I had to do "Technical German" as part of a Chemistry degree, however, this was over 50yrs ago and I don't reme...

@Mike Yup; should do. Ever since the start of the 28-series Thanks for that info it's good to know. It can update automatically but I've left it on the 'let me know when a updates available'. You couldn't have updated 27.9.4 even if you'd wanted to, because the SSE-only build was a 'one-off'. Yes it...

@sheldoissac I still use it quite a lot on an old Toshiba laptop (PIII 800MHz 320MB) as well as on this machine. I liked the way it was regularly updated as well. The frugal install I'm using now came from the lupusuper2-5.2.8.7-k3.2.48-20171125.iso which I think might have been the last update but ...

@ Ken:- It's a simple 'fix', mate. Thanks Mike, It's now working as it should. It's great to be able to use a browser such as palemoon on an older pup like lucid 5287. It gives them a new lease of life. It was my favourite pup at one time and I still like it a lot. I was using the 27.9.0 version be...

@ jrb, sindi:- I can confirm the above 'workaround', too. For the first time, this is running natively for me in Richard's Lucid 5.2.8.7 'Sulu-002'. D/l, and install, the Palemoon 28.8.0 with glibc tweak first . Then, download & install this:- https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HQzLqcOU62PeRxZYIp...

... and sda3 is largely empty. All are formatted as ntfs Why are you using NTFS to work with Linux on sda3???? In order for this to work, a Linux needs read-write support for NTFS at the boot stage. I doubt if the Dogs have that. If sda3 has lots of space, run Gparted and split off a Linux ext part...
