I downloaded BarryK's dd.gz, removed the fake .gz and moved it to /my-applications/bin . It showed up as executable but on clicking on it it did not run. I tried running it in a terminal but again it did not run and the terminal gave no output. As it has the musl libc linked statically, it will run ...

Hi Mike, Just did a proper test with easydd. I wrote the .img of the new raspbian buster to an sd card then booted my rasp pi 3b+ with it. I'm posting from it now. I used the copy of easydd I've got on racy55. Good it works with these older pets. I've used dd from the command line before but this wa...

hi keniv and everyone my comments about wifi were not directed to you this has been a problem for everyone including me Ah! OK I see, I understand this now. I thought it was supposed to work in delta-1 but it seems not. I'm quite pleased now, that with help, I got it to boot to a desktop. I'm also ...

@ keniv:- Glad to hear it's working for you. And, yes; I think Lucid's glibc will be too old for that specific 'dd' file, since Xenial uses 2.23, I believe. Actually, I'm surprised it's working for you in Racy ; in my case, I'm not surprised, since I have Battleshooter's 'glibc-2.20 upgrade' he put...

hi Mike, Thanks for this. Am using the 32 bit .pet. Can confirm it works on racy 5.5. It also works with puppy precise light 571 which has been recently update. Did not have to do anything to get them to work. It did not work with lucid 5287 even though it contains both pupmessage and pupdialog. Bel...

@fredx181 Hi Fred, Thanks for your comments and trying to help me with my boot code problem. I'm still not sure why changing the directory name was necessary but it did work. I did try to set up a cable network. I can get eth0, network mask and servers but I don't know how to set the rest up manuall...

@ wanderer if you want wifi internet and more desktops now you can use coreplus 9 for the time being it may be better for some to simply read along as this project progresses rather than become frustrated with issues that will eventually be resolved I think this might be aimed at me since I believe ...

Well I was wrong as changing cde to tce allowed me to boot to a desktop. However, I set the date and time then tried to shutdown and make a backup (I assume this is the equivalent of a save file). This failed with an error. I could only shutdown by electing to exit to the command prompt then sudo po...

@andresc2 change cde for tce I have a frugal install. 1delta contains only two directories i.e. boot and cde. Boot contains isolinux, core.gz and vmlinuz. I am booting with grub4dos so don't need isolinux. cde contains one directory i.e optional which contains the *tcz files. Do you mean me to renam...

I thought I would try this as I liked the concept. However I have no knowledge of tinycore. I have experience of using various puppys, dogs and even distros like ubuntu. I have therefor got some of the little bits of knowledge need to get them to run. I tried to boot delta using grub4dos (see below)...

Hello jrb, Just updated with your precise-light-5.7.1+0.iso___precise-light-5.7.1+3.iso delta file. When I changed kernel I made the change to the the 5.7.1+2 iso. With the 5.7.1+3 iso I had to change the kernel again. I wondered if I changed the kernel in the 5.7.1+0 iso would I be able to avoid ch...

Hello jrb, I decided to have a go at changing the kernel. As I had nothing better to go on other than you saying the one you downloaded worked even though you didn't have the problem I went for it. As you said the process was "fairly easy". It was certainly much less trouble than I thought...

Hello jrb, Just tried two of your suggestion to fix the reboot on shutdown problem I have. 1. "acpi=force" I also have ubuntu on this machine. I am using it's grub2 to boot everything else. Adding acpi=force did not make any difference. 2. Using "poweroff script from Bionic32" I ...

Hello jrb, I think I'll remove the link on page one. Sad until someone solves the problem. Yes I can understand why you might want to do that. At the moment you can't even access netsurf's own site. As it's small I'll keep it installed in case someone finds a solution. I have use 3.7 and it had it's...

Hello jrb, Have just updated with your most recent delta. It caught me out a little as I did not realise I had to update the original iso. I tried to update the 5.7.1+1 version which did not work. I noticed the name of your delta, realised what to do, and re-downloaded the 5.7.1+0 version which work...

Can confirm this works with a machine with the specs outlined in the above post. As well as being quite new it is also fast as compared with a modern FF or SM on this hardware.

Hello jrb, It worked perfectly. A very easy way to install a good very usable browser on an old machine. I am posting from it now. One small issue which made me wonder. After the install process was complete palemoon opened. I made some changes to it then closed it. I restarted it using "browse...

Hello jbr,
Thanks for that. I hope it works. I don't think it matters if it's not in your package. An easily available gui to download this version palemoon would be good. If it works I'm happy to test.

Ken.
