A couple of more ideas regarding the problem with Folding@Home forgetting progress after a reboot. I would first check to see that you can stop and start the FAHClient during normal operation and see if it picks up where it left off. In v7, FAHClient is simply a service that is started from the /etc...

Welcome to the forum bikefreak. Sorry about the slow response, but I have been away for awhile. If I understand it correctly, the FAHClient saves a checkpoint about every five minutes in the Work directory. You should see a .cpt and a prev.cpt file in there. When you power down or reboot, the Client...

Installing FAH v7 client in FatDog_521
I used the following steps to install version 7 of the FAH CPU client on Fatdog-521 today. There is no linux version of a GPU client, so I would still recommend using v6 of the Windows GPU client with wine (as detailed in my previous post) ... it will run concurrently with this version 7 CPU client ...

xorg problems?
Since you are getting to a command prompt ... it sounds like it might be a problem with Xorg. With Nouveau kernel modules you might have to boot with the nomodeset parameter. Are you able to run xorgwizard from the command line to re-probe for your display driver? Or maybe set it up with vesa as you...

It isn't clear from your post exactly where you are getting stuck. It appears that you have done a full install and have successfully installed grub4dos. So it sounds like it enters setup, you can make your selection and then ... at what point does it lock up? Does it show anything while it is booti...

Setting up for GPU Folding with Wine
I acquired an old Asus en9600gt Silent graphics card and decided to install it in the PC I was using for SMP Folding with FatDog-521. This is the procedure I used in case anyone else is interested in doing GPU folding with FatDog. Note that the SMP client runs in linux, but the GPU client must be ru...

First FAH Work Unit
Just set up an old computer (Pentium D) with FAH SMP and I'm about 50% through my very first Work Unit. (I used Team Puppy Linux - User Sunny). Frugal install of FatDog-521 on a USB Stick. That fired right up and is running very stable on my machine -- nice job on that distribution guys. I've been u...

Booting DG33FB MB with Puppy 5.1.1 CD
When booting the Puppy 5.1.1 & 5.2.8 CD with an Intel DG33FB MB the system simply locks up with a blank screen before entering the X window. (Note that I am using a core2duo processor and AHCI for the disk interface.) In order to boot from the CD, I had to use acpi=off as a kernel boot parameter...

Thank you for the quick response. Unfortunately, the Hal Driver you provided did not work ... it appears to be the same one I got at tuxx-home.at I get the following error in Xorg.0.log when I try to use your driver: mga_hal_drv Release v4.4.0 compiled for 7.0.0 module version=1.0.0 ABI class: X.org...

Hal Driver for Matrox G450
I'm using a Matrox G450 card in my machine with Puppy 4.1 (2.6.25.16). I was able to get hardware acceleration using the mga driver after installing the official pet package xorg_xorg_full_dri-7.3 I would like to get dual-head capability (Clone to TV-Out on the second head), but have not yet been su...
