Problem with HP C3140

I installed the cups 1.3.9-!486.pet , then linnetsnmp-15.pet , then hplite-3.11.5.pet. When I ran the cups wizard on USB one was a 3100 series HP . it did not come up as a C3140 as I expected but since it was on the correct port I had to assume it was the correct one. The only HP Photosmart drive wa...

Then it disappeared so I drug the executable out of local/bin and it opened but all the data was gone. cannon

Hi Mahadi:

Cannon printers are Linux unfriendly. This site may help but next time you buy a printer check on it's compatibility w/ Linux. Brother , Samsung Lexmark and HP are often Linux friendly.
Hope this helps:

Unetbootin

Most of the time the universal installer works very well and I prefer it. I have however had a few drives that I could only get to work with Unetbootin, some work with only the windows version, some the Linux. The Linux version has improved in the last year, it was as buggy as Houston in July a year...

Tolerance

There is no point in having a discussion on religion if the goal is for everyone to accept everyone else's view. We have to respect everyone's right to their view , we should be willing to listen to it but to respect and accept their view as equally valid forces the view that all religion's are equa...

Freecycle

freecycle.org is the way to go. Some people give away their printers when they find its cheaper to buy a new than the ink, some give away the ink when their printer craters. I have gotten hundreds of dollars worth of ink and several printers that way. Old Epsons work well with 1 - 3 dollar aftermark...

As a counter-example to the accusations that (A) it's hard to install a printer in Puppy and (B) community members are unfriendly to newcomers, you might want to read here. Notice how this user asked the appropriate question - How do I install Printer X in Puppy version Y? I am not going to argue w...

Thanks

If you attempted to upgrade CUPS and did it wrong, nothing will work. You need the original CUPS 1.1.23 and Patriot's foo2xxx package. BTW, the download link you reference above contains the exact source code for what you are getting in the PETs. Thanks a million. Hopefully I will have i working to...

Maybe I had the wrong cups 1.39 ? Do i have to ditch 431? Puppy 4.3.1 doesn't have CUPS 1.3.9 - it has 1.1.23. In any case, the package I recommended came from the page titled "How to Install your printer in Lupu/Quirky/Wary." It does not apply to 4.3.1 and does not work there. However, P...

No kidding. If you scroll down to the second screen at http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/ , it says HP Color Laserjet CP1215 supported by my foo2hp driver Both Patriot, disciple and I know for a fact that the foo2xxx PET contains a driver for the CP1215. That's why we are recommending it to you. I have said...

Hp CJ 1215

I am using 431. I really do not want to change distros but if necessary I will.

Would you mind supplying the icm files for that printer, the Hp Colorjet 1215?

Thank you for all your efforts

Can't we all just get along?

Just saying "It didn't work" is not useful. What would like to me to say? I installed the pets, I typed in localhost:631 and set up the printer and then told it to print a test page , nothing happened. I will be tickled pink to give you what ever info you want but it seems a lot of people...

No but they say they list the printers they work on and the 1215 is not among them. I don't have a clue what list you're referring to now. foo2hp is included in the foo2xxx package. That's how the package is 11 MB - it includes all the foo2whatever drivers. I went to the link you provide, a link I ...
