I've attached two dmesg files. The first one had so much stuff in it, I took the modem out and put it back in again to see what got added (I also stuck a thumbdrive in so I could copy the files). This might make working out the useful additions a bit difficult. To make things more difficult, I'm cur...

OK, tried with the dongle installed before boot up. Didn't work. (The package says to stick it in while the 'puter is running). Pulled it out, stuck it in again. Still nothing. ____________________________ I'm on puppy 5.0 My box is an Athlon XP 1700+ (lol not all dinosaurs are extinct) The USB mode...

Odd USB thing. It's only got the business half of a normal USB port (doesn't have the thin metal edge that completes the rectangle) 1st attempt: NFG. I get no indication of a USB device being plugged in on puppy. Tried every different USB port on the 'puter flipped over to windoze and tried from the...

4G internet - Vivid Wireless
Hi all
Vivid Wireless, a WA ISP company, have a thing they call 4G internet.
I'm buying a USB modem for their service tonight. Does anyone know if puppy does '4G' internet?
Hi Rerwin if listening - I'm guessing you'll have an interest if this doesn't work?
cheers

mp3 infinite loop
When I click on an mp3 file in ROX, it kicks off, but won't stop. From top's output, I think aplay is running the song, so I try to kill its process, but it keeps coming back. Can anyone tell me how to kill it, dead (short of backing out of X)? . . . and why it does this How do I get puppy to make a...

hey 01micko yeah, i remember talking (in a post) with you a while back. You had an e169 that was working with 4.3.1 didn't you? did the -chap thing in 4.3.1. Can't remember if i did it in 5 (in Win atm), but will try next, if I haven't. pretty sure there's no 'bad init string' message (which sounds ...

puppy 5 and huawei e169
Hi Rerwin I have a Huawei e169 (with virgin) which was working (using your magic) in puppy 4.3.1. I upgraded to puppy 5 and am now running into the same problems as before you waved your magic pet wand, and keeps telling me the modem has hung up with an error code of 16. It redials, seems to connect...

Hi all Thanks for looking in on this, sorry for not posting back earlier, I didn't get a response notification. I used the standard puppy partitioner 'GParted' I think. Space between partitions: it came formatted with NTFS, which I shrank from the full disk to about the first 120Gb. When I formatted...

Problem after partitioning Seagate hd
Hi all I recently bought myself a 1Tb seagate usb expansion drive, and tried to partition it so about 120Gb remained NTFS with the remainder formatted to ext3 to use with puppy. Everything looked ok, except a) it took ages and b) there was about 7Mb of unallocated space left between the NTFS and ext...

hi omskates, i'm in the level 50-53 range, but at work atm. Will follow ttuuxxx's instructions when I get home and post mine in. edit: well I tar.gz'd the folder and it came to a li'l over a meg. but, i think the only file needed is levelstate (which is a li'l over 1k - uncompressed) - uploaded. Dro...

Using the newer experimental gplanarity? (under games) was not in 4.3.1 and does not appear to work in 4.3.2 . . . if not working means you get a blank window, try enlarging it a bit by dragging a corner. gPlanarity needs this done to work in dpup. if it doesn't work at all, sorry for eavesdropping...

Hi Dave I don't know about those numbers in particular, but java is notorious for how much memory it uses. I run the netbeans IDE OR frostwire (both are java apps). I can't run 'em both together without a ton of patience (but then i only gots a Athlon 1700+ with 256Mb) this may help: http://rimuhost...

hi ttuuxxx I talked about this in a dpup bug thread, but since it seems to be a gPlanarity issue I thought I'd mention it again here. The gPlanarity pet fires up in a blank window, and only after the window size has been increased do you get to see the program. This continues after closing and re-op...
