What is everyone's overall impression? I'm still running Lupu (which I like due to the compatibility with Debian code -- but it's starting to show its age -- and the "old" Debian code is often no longer "old enough" for compatibility). And my question gets me a tracker, so I can...

Re: How to associate a file-type\-extension - with application?

(I found some articles and threads "in the internets" - but didn't understand the explanations) For instance - I want to open: ---GIFs - with Viewnior (default image-viewer - Geeqie). ---SVGs - with InkScape (now it's LibreOffice something). Find the link to the program you want to use (o...

the Cloud means control......I rather have an old obscure OS with a load of programs on a hard drive....barely connected....than trust Apple, Microstuff and Google. Hell I still use some DOS programs which run SO fast these days. Yup... And my old Win98 laptop... ;-) (which, IIRC, also runs Puppy 5...

Hi, totolanio. You could always do what I've done. I'm not a Firefox fan by any means, and have always preferred the Chromium-based browsers.....but I'm once again using Firefox as my 'back-up' browser; this time, FF52esr. Having got the pulseaudio problem out of the way, I put together a .pet of t...

If this works well enough, I might look into upgrading it to 2GB RAM (apparently the max it will handle). Hi RTG - good to see you back. You went quiet for a lonnng time! Thanks... I sometimes get distracted with other things. Was digging on some ongoing problems -- though Palemoon cured one of the...

Hate tp say but FF Devs don't give a flying _______about quality so not surpised by all this I stopped using firefox ages ago and have used Palemoon since. They (Mozilla) tried to tell me that the Linux guys must have broken/uninstalled the reporting part, since it couldn't possibly be anything els...

I have used Pale Moon 27.2.1 (32-bit) for a week now, with my live LupuPlus 5.2.8.005-1. I like it very much! I have not noticed any trouble at all. My FF 45.0.2 crashed frequently, especially when: 1) I had many tabs open at the same time, or 2) after a search operation when numerous tabs/windows ...

Acquired an HP Pavilion zv6000, XP, 1GB RAM, AMD64 (Athlon64, 3500+ -- I think it's 2.2 GHz). Got a kernel panic using SuperLupu1. SuperLupu2 came right up (though the built in wireless sometimes comes up, sometimes can't be found -- that might just be an HP issue, it is an old machine). Dragged my ...

BTW, I should put the link to what seems to be the most recent version of Palemoon here (I installed "palemoon-27.2.1-p4-glibc219tweak.pet:"):

Overall Palemoon seems to do well. Much lighter "touch" on my system (another artifact of Firefox was that it would eat every single bit of free RAM while running). Some of my plugins in Palemoon don't work "as well" as they did under Firefox (I presume it's due to being older ve...

Hi Retro, Have you tried Palemoon which is like old school Firefox? There is a Watchdog .pet for Lupu. Rockin' Robert! Just installed Palemoon, and found that it accepts all of my old favorite tools... Very snappy. And was able to import all of my passwords, and bookmarks without issue. With Firefo...

Hi Retro, Have you tried Palemoon which is like old school Firefox? There is a Watchdog .pet for Lupu. I am using FF-30 and having it lie about what it is. So long as it lies and says it is FF-60 I have no troubles. I had forgotten this trick. I should be able to use the stable ESR version, and lie...

Interesting... Chrome is sufficiently goofy that it apparently can't just upgrade. And it's too old to use the Google Store widget, where all of the add-ons are stored. Meanwhile, Chrome was pretty snappy -- but the various ads were just swamping the screen... So poking around, I found an old versio...

So I just installed Chrome v19 from the lupu repository. It seems to work pretty well (and doesn't hammer my processor, unlike FF).

Now I wonder if I can install my various tools?... ;-)

But numerous sites complain that the browser is too old, cripple it on their site, etc... If you have those kind of issues with FF27/28 or FF33/34, Pale Moon will probably be the same or worse on those sites (as it's based off FF24esr). I found things to work a bit more correctly on FF28 than Pale ...
