Hmm I did try using easyBCD to boot linux but it steadfastly refused in spite of creating a valid entry and UEFI stuff disabled. The same method booted XP without a hitch. My usual method is normally to rename bootmgr to something else.... rename grldr to bootmgr, add a menu.lst then the windows 7 ...

If you copy a mounted savefile, it will corrupt the file...slightly. My observation is that booting with "pfix=fsck" will repair it before loading (I set this as my default boot parameter, and check the file on every boot). But better to copy it in a clean manner (unmounted). ^^^ +1!! I intended to ...

Do the copying when running a linux system. Windows could mess up some file names. ...And doesn't understand symbolic links... ;-) It's useful to make a duplicate copy of your running savefile anyway. Then you can load/run the backup copy, and use it to copy your main savefile copy. If you copy a ...

Yep the Pup I pretty much started out with 4.12. Again thanks to Tuxtoo's site. I think that I first discovered Puppy back at about 0.95 -- played with it, and found it "cute" but not really ready for prime time (too limited for my needs). I came back around to it at about 4.11. That worked pretty ...

I tested this system in Xenialpup-32 and it worked. Out of curiosity, did you attempt to have the live boot CD install to a piece of media? I still use the built in Puppy installer, and when I tried that it left things "not quite right" (and is apparently missing pieces when it copies files -- don ...

Puppy doesn't have a registry to clean and as for browser cache...make sure all tempory files are in the /tmp folder and then they will get cleaned up each boot. I think you had it correct the first time with the product key. That key is your key and no one else's!
