Solved using x11vnc for slacko puppy 5.6
I kept coming back to this problem and finally found a solution. I tried about 3 or 4 different vnc packages and the only one that works for me is the x11vnc_server-0.9.4B.pet from the following thread. http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=27424 I installed the package and ran the firewa...

Just to piggy-back on this thread. I'm having problems getting VCN server to work on Slacko. Pet seems to load ok and htop shows it up and running but I just can't make a connection. I have VCN running on a DSL machine and have no problem with it. I used this thread and am trying to use the puppy5 p...

Re: regular expression evaluation and learning tool
[Note: Puppy has a regular expression evaluation and learning tool in the Utilities menu] Once upon a time (version 1.04) I have used it much. But now it seems to have disappeared  If you are running Python you can use redemo.py I created redemo.sh and made it executable python /usr/lib/python...

I used this thread to help me make this work so thought I'd post here here too.. It's also in the Programming section. I've set this up on a couple of machines now and thought I'd pass it along... It may not be the most up to date libraries and such, but it works. Installing Python: Using Puppy Pack...

Slacko Puppy 5.3.3 - Installing Python & Setting up Tkinter

Installing Python: Using Puppy Package Manager under the category System install python_plus-2.6.6-i486-s After installing you will have the following mis...

Troubles getting BaCon / HUG / GLADE / GLUT working
I hope it is OK to start a new thread dealing with "installing and setting up" BaCon, HUG, GLADE, and GLUT. The original thread has much more about development and use and I'm just not there yet. Here is the info from my eee PC 900: Linux puppypc 2.6.35.7 (puppeee 4.4 Beta 5) BaCon version...

Ok, Finally able to duplicate the problem, and it's a weird one. I'm using a fresh full install of Puppeee 4.4 beta 2. Change your theme to Brushed. Open Chrome and Geany and test the menus work normally. Open pmenu and select a program from either list so the icon shows. While pmenu is still open t...

Ok, After further research I cannot recreate the problem. I'm switching between the Brushed and Clearlooks themes using CHThemes. Brushed looks perfect. Clearlooks has white highlight text and is hard to read when you use the right click menus. (That is what I thought the problem was.) This is a pro...

jemimah,
Ah, found the issue - seems to happen to the right click menus.
Looking to see if zigbert's code causes the same problem?
Just wondering if it's a gtk-theme-switch problem or if I implemented his technique incorrectly.
Thanks,
Jeff
