Apology in advance for diggin' up an old thread.
trio thanks for the pet worked great on my HD install. But may I ask what is inside the pet? I want to know. I can't extract it when renaming it to .tar.gz.

Most videos are about default installs of Puppy, so I thought to show a customized Puppy - to show that it's pretty good themeable, and that there are many other apps than those in the Package manager.

A .tar.bz2 is an extractable. Like .zip on Windows. If you extract the file, there will be source code in it, that you need to extract and then compile, for building the newer SeaMonkey. There are generic Linux tutorials covering compiling, also see the README's in the source package. For compiling ...

Put the script in /root/Startup
then it will be run after X has started.
If you want to run it before X has started you have to call the script somewhere in /root/.xinitrc
I don't know much about live-booting but if I'm right, Puppy saves all your files, in your sfs file, when you save your session.

Confirmed to work with removing root (hd0,2) Just kernel /boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/sda3 ro splash=silent savedefault boot Weird. Going to ditch Wolvix now I think... install real Slackware, or wait till Wolvix 2 is out of beta. In Wolvix 1.1 mplayer doesn't show the progress bar moving. And the last s...

Add Slackware to GRUB
I have Puppy installed (full), then I made another partition and installed Wolvix, which is basically Slackware (but with programs, XFCE4 etc. already added for you). During Wolvix install I did not install/update GRUB. I thought I'd add Wolvix manually afterwards. However nothing I try seems to wor...

Thanks for your fast replies. DMenu seems nice but as far as I can see it doesn't have the keycombo-popup feature like Gnome-Do has. Awmenu seems a fine alternative indeed, gonna try it later. And thanks for compiling Launchy muggins (/me didn't know about the qt4 pet...), it works good as far as I ...

Gnome-Do equivalent for puppy (jwm)
I always used Gnome-Do in GNOME. It is mainly a program launcher. You start it and type e.g. "fire" and it'll come up with Firefox and you can launch it then, hitting [Enter]. It also can index your files so when you type "photo" you see all the files stating with "photo&quo...

Wrong/confusing name for keyboard layout; + missing layout
On 4.3 firefox edition . In Setup=>Mouse/keyboard wizard=>Choose keyboard layout for your country., the model " USA International " is not listed. This is keyboard is called "br-latin1-us" instead. It took me a while to find that out... The name is confusing because now it seems ...

Pstreamvid & mplayer (4.3) (+ solution)
===== specs ===== On puppy 4.3 firefox remaster . With Pstreamvid 1.3 (default installed) and MPlayer-1.0rc2 (from here ) ==== the problem ==== Default Pstreamvid wouldn't want to play any of the standard included channels (e.g. France24), with Mplayer. It did with Gxine. (G)Mplayer just didn't sho...

I had the no-graphics-issue too when I first installed and then had uninstalled mplayer. (I also checked with xine-ui, which said, I missed a codec on opening an AVI file, but I had that installed.) On reinstall of mplayer, (g)xine worked again. Xine version was 0.99.5. However I can't get .srt subt...

How to get default JWM config back?
Hi, I am just new to Puppy... I messed something up in the jwm files I guess, because now I am stuck with a yellowish (Citrus-Cut) window theme no matter what I do. I installed the gtk-engines pet and the clearlooks pet, so I could choose more gtk themes. Then I selected the Clearlooks-Olive theme. ...
