How do I figure out what verso...

Does Puppy have Make?

I'm trying to install an un-packaged program for the first time. The README says, "just make". When I try to use make I get the error:

bash: make: command not found

I think I will try to do the USB boot as a finer adjustment to increase battery life. I have booted from an external USB CD ROM drive. Thing is, it's impossibly slow. The CPU maxes to 100% launching Seamonkey for 15 minutes. This doesn't seem right to me - could something be wrong? I ran Damn Small ...

USB Boot on Panasonic CF-T1

So far I've tried the iso 9660 boot option on the Flash installer, no dice, it has a Phoenix BIOS V1.50L13, boot options are "USB CD Drive," "Floppy Drive" (even though it has no floppy disk,) "Hard Drive." It would be sweet to get it up! Tiny machine, 256MB RAM, 60G HD...

Can I Customize the Appearance of Windows?

When I open a folder, I'd love to have the default view be list view sorted by last modified (most recent at top) is there a way to do this?

How Do I Boot With pfix=fsck

I can't boot from CD, I get the error: "ext2-fs (loop1): error: ext2_lookup: deleted inode referenced: 16" a zillion times rolling up my screen. My research tells me that perhaps I need to to a file system check to root out corruption. So I should figure out how to boot with pfix=fsck I th...

I would like to support hardware that supports Linux. However, it appears that the Iomega is criticized in a lot of reviews for not having sufficient cooling. They Synology NASs look really good, but for some reason don't do SMB as far as I can tell. How easy/possible is it to set up a NAS with pupp...
