Hi 666philb,
I downloaded quick-pet Lucid 511-FullNvidia_260.19.12-K2.633.2.
I thought that was the best choice of the six, don't know.
It's a friends computer so some time passes between tests.
His GTX570 runs 2560x1440 on a big monitor. I was able to get 1920X1200.
Lucid 528.004
2.6.33.2
Thanks

In Lucid 5.1.1 Opened the console and type: geany /etc/rc.d/rc.shutdown Scroll down about 3/4 of the page. I look for the number 13 on the left side. A few lines below that you should see: #the above are in unionfs at /. You need to add text on the next line so it looks like this when you’re done. #...

I finally got it to work following the rc.shutdown instructions. It now prompts my usb install with a yes or no for save at shutdown. On reboot I always get the improper shutdown prompt, doesn't seem to matter. I always got that message with the other versions.

rc.shutdown in 5.1

I struggled to get 5.01 to shutdown without saving and now the rc.shutdown in 5.1 has changed. I've tried to make similar changes but nothing works. The text in 5.1 is different, the how to I used doesn't cross over.
USB Flash drive install.

It worked on the first try. I have YES NO at shutdown and can use the desktop save option when I want. At last, at last.
Puppy 5 is working great. I've been trying different versions the past year and this is finally the one.
Thanks again

I want to stop the session save at shutdown. Right now it's in default auto save session mode. Next and separate from save session at shutdown. If the desktop save icon function is a default save every 30 minutes during the session then I also want to stop that. Changing to manual save mode would be...
