I didn't include the other language packs when I built Dune. I will look for them (they did not come with it by default). You need the file GERMAN.PAK placed in /usr/share/dunelegacy/ Umm... (Ahem) I cant seem to find my old dune templates  I will have to pull apart the .pet to put the languag...

Karl Godt: I used to get that error when I first tried to compile the game a while ago. Are you sure you got an up to date SDL_image package? I got mine from the slacko repos and it "just worked." I didn't check the version numbers you used. I won't know when I will be able to work on this...

Okay, I will try it soon. One question though, is it customary to include libraries in sfs's?
Thanks for the instructions on how to build them, I hadn't known how to do that.
I can't upload it until Sunday at minimum, I am on vacation and upload speeds here are terrible.

3d support is tough in puppy. Larger distributions deal with it by having a boatload of drivers, but as puppy is aiming to be small, this is not usually an option. a fairly decent catch all set is the Mesa driver in slickpet. Some ATI cards have had a history of being tough to get drivers for from w...

It looks like the game either needs the SDL_gfx library or you dont have 3d support installed (normally you do this through an application in puppy called quickpet or "slikpet" in slacko). If you need SDL_gfx, you should look on the forums or do a puppy search: http://puppylinux.org/wikka/...

FreedroidRPG

Hi folks, It is my honor and privilege to present to you the legendary FreedroidRPG. It is one of the best GNU/Linux games I have ever played. This version is so hot off the presses that Ubuntu probably doesn't have it yet! The adventure begins with your character waking up out of stasis only to dis...

I am in Slacko 5.3 now. I downloaded the package and installed and everything worked fine.
I used icecat 3.6.13 to do the download. What browser are you using? It might make a difference.

Huh, That's strange, I compiled it on lucid, but as far as I know they use the same package format. It might be a google thing also. I will try it and if nessecary repackage, but meanwhile have you tried running the "pet2tgz" command? If you are desperate you could unpack manually from the...

News: Free Software-based gaming console... Coming soon!

I practically hyperventilated when I read this, but a new player in the video game industry has raised $4 million USD in 5 days, pledging to build a free software android based gaming console. It will be totally open and totally hackable! It will be called The Ouya. I wish them success! I wonder if ...

I used to play with this on a dell laptop that did the same thing. What worked for me was to hit the power button. The lights would blink once, and I would be good to go. By default, I think Slacko goes into standby when you close the lid. If I remember correctly, these behaviors are controlled by a...

I used to use qbasic... When I switched to puppy, I switched to free-basic. If you like qbasic, free-basic is pretty much the same for simple stuff. for "inkey$" and more complex commands, the syntax starts to vary. In other words you can use qbasic-type syntax in GNU/Linux. If you really ...

I just wanted to report that this Puppy solved my Xorg issues! I have restarted X twice on my Dell D610... no issues! In fact, I haven't seen any problems yet. I also forgot to mention last time that the previous beta was the first release of puppy where DVD menus worked for me in Gnome-Mplayer. Stil...
