Yes you can do this with a script. Is this something you have done? And if so do you have any examples of how you did it? I am getting a little confused by the interaction between the hardware clock in the PC, the time and timezone routine within the Initrd boot process and the post-boot puppy util...

greengeek: Yes Hi Costa - is there any chance of temporarily booting Xenialpup64 instead? I am keen to see if you get the same situation that I do where Xenialpup64 shows the display eDP1 as having "backlight" parameter instead of the "brightness" parameter that Bionicpup64 show...

Script-based Date/Time/Locale/Timezone setting

When modern puppies boot they bring up a couple of splash screens that offer the user the opportunity to set a bunch of parameters such as Date / Time / Locale and Timezone etc I would like to know if there are any ways to set these parameters via a script rather than manually. Why? My Timezone (Auc...

Detail tab > file format > matroska. This is in ffconvert 1.4.2. In version 1.4.3 there will also be a mkv option. Ahhh, ok thanks nic. For some reason I had completely overlooked the "format" parameter as I thought it was an advisory only and that the actual selection of format was in th...

Hmmmm, I definitely don't see Matroska as an option. Are you looking under "group" or "preset" - and on what puppy?

How would you make an mkv? I don't see that option in FFconvert.

I have a feeling I saw a post by MochiMoppel somewhere that offered a way around the annoying behaviour of scrolling through desktops. Will post back if I can locate it.

libx264 seems to be the correct video codec for that. Did you try the "Same as source" parameters where possible as suggested? Yes, i did try selecting same as source but it didn't change the outcome. Definitely seems that the stereo does not accept the libx264 output from FFconvert. I tr...

Hi Costa77, thanks for posting the xrandr output. There is currently a problem with Bionicpup64 not reporting "backlight" parameters via xrandr - is that the pup you are running? Is there any chance of you booting Xenialpup64 and reposting the xrandr output? I think you will find your back...

Please post the output of the following command in full without the grep used in your initial post:

xrandr --verbose

Cheers!

Frankly, is there any reason you can't just power DC-rated equipment, such as computers, smartphones, etc using a 12V output (or more modernly 5V). I recall that camping and automobile equipment (including stove, 'frige, AirCond, Car Entertainment, etc) are all designed to operate 12VDC (some with ...

Just used QWinFF media converter to change an .mpg file to an .mp4 file but QWinFF converter seems to lack control of the parameters that FFconvert used to have in the 32bit pups. Is there any way to add extra variables to QWinFF converter? eg all it has control of is the resolution but I need to ch...

@gyro - interesting - I do that manually - make desired changes, save as save file, open it & trim unnecessary files, save as adrv_x.sfs (because it loads last). Edit that .sfs for minor tweaks. Used the same adrv for ScPup64 19.04, 19.09, 20.01. It's why I've been playing with extra drv.sfs fi...

Also use a new version of FFconvert. Version 1.4.3 at least. Ironically i also tried Xenialpup64 which does have a newer FFconvert however it told me that it's ffmpeg does not support libfaac - the audio codec I needed in this case. I could not find any combination that worked in this stereo. By co...

Thanks nic - sorry for the slow reply but i have been testing heaps of different options to confirm what works and what doesn't. I had previously tried the MP4 presets in the multimedia FFconverter and had it in my mind that the AVC setup only produced 640x480 resolution whereas my car stereo wants ...

MP4 Video codec probs. FFmpeg/FFconvert/pdvdrsdab

I am trying to play videos on a Pioneer car stereo and some are successful but some are not. Unfortunately when it fails to play the bad videos I can't read the error message as the radio is set to Japanese. However, the successful videos seem to use video format=MP4V and video codec=FFODIVX The uns...
