Booting 2.17 without monitor

I ran into some problem: when I boot Puppy 2.17 without monitor connected to the motherboard, it boots into "Puppy Video Wizard" dialog instead of normal X. It looks like Puppy tried to probe absent monitor and failed. Is there some way to disable it?

Now I see. Thank you. Module button.ko can be found in all_modules-k2.6.16.7.tar.gz . " insmod button.ko " and all is right. button.ko is needed for posting the event in /proc/acpi/event and acpid simply reads events and reacts. Now /etc/acpi/events/power looks like: event=button power.* a...

It can be compiled and works properly. But, it appeared that something wrong with acpi in Puppy. Power button doesn't post anything in /proc/acpi/event. Moreover, I haven't seen any event there.

Anyone compiled acpid (for shutting down Puppy?)

Did anyone compile and use "acpid" in Puppy2?

More precisely, I am trying to do clear shutdown on pressing of power button on the box.

Read this thread http://www.murga.org/~puppy/viewtopic.p ... highlight=.
Or try Erik's Puppy - http://www.erikveen.dds.nl/qemupuppy/index.html. It's still 1.0.7, but works perfect.

Re: How to let puppy see a windows share

LinNeighborhood: ... 12. Set the parameters for the mount or accept the defaults. The "mount point" is the puppy folder under which you will see the contents of the shared folder. (write down that path so you remember where it's mounted) 13. Click "Mount". Rox should open on tha...

The problem is confirmed with Puppy 1.0.6.
Ctrl+Alt+F1 switches to 1st virtual console (home run of X) and Ctrl+Alt+F3 freezes the system.
Could you please move the thread to Bugs forum?

There is no command prompt, it is virtual console from which X rans. If you try to switch back to Xwindow (Ctrl+Alt+Fn - do not remember what exact Fn - it dependence on number of virtual consoles), system freezes.

3.09 could work

Version 3.09 could work properly, if you ran it with -s flag in command line. Can you check it?

Solution

Guys, change file syslinux.cfg in syslinux.zip and add some explanations to "Old instruction". The file should be something like this:

Code: Select all

default vmlinuz root=/dev/ram0 initrd=image.gz
append PSLEEP=25 PHOME=sda1 PFILE=pup100-none-262144 PKEYS=us
It is working now.

This is for puppy multisession CD's.

I did exactly as "Old instruction" says: copy image.gz, usr_cram.fs, vmlinuz from ISO, syslinux.cfg from syslinux.zip, run syslinux.com. puppy-1.0.3-mozilla.iso is good. No plays with syslinux.cfg. All from inside of XP. I sure the pen drive is all right. DSL boots perfect off this. Does t...

1.0.3 and boot off USB flash disk problem

It looks like there is some problem with 1st boot off USB flash disk. I don't have CD drive here, so, I prepared my pen drive as described in "Old instruction" flash-puppy section. In 1st boot off flash Puppy didn't create pup100 file, but tried to put all his stuff in root directory of fl...
