The problem is how do i share other locations / disks ? say i want to share 5 or 6 of my harddrives. what do i do ? hope this snip from my file /etc/samba/smb.conf helps... Edit your copy to be something like this then restart samba. I'm sure there are things others would do differently (or better)...
The line you quoted fixes the pmount problem so I am able to mount drives via the gui (important to me cos of other users seeing and using this setup).... cp -f /usr/sbin/pmount-puppy /usr/sbin/pmount The NVIDIA driver from NV's site still would not compile here... Failed on 32bit libs... sorry. Use...
Ok. The solution is to run the php script via chron, say every two minutes.
This will enable a propper user to run the script, not apache.
Another bonus is that the ban script can be kept outside the htdocs folder.
Now all I need to do is read up chron (which I have avoided until now!)
Hi Taz - sorry mate - disk mounting failed on 513 so am still running 512. On 513, Pmount displays an orange "scanning hardware" window that does not complete and follow to the pmount dialog box. Also, on leaving X (restart or powerdown) the machine reaches a command prompt then immediatel...
OK the problem has a chicken / egg quality about it: 1) Xampp seems to be running as root - in fact it produces an error if started as "spot" : bash-4.1# su spot <spot> ~ bash-4.1$ /opt/lampp/lampp start You need to start XAMPP as root! I have checked lxtask and the httpd daemons state tha...
Hi all.... You're (not) going to love this ... I am building a php script to automatically ban IP's from my website that look too carefully for things like phpmyadmin and other xampp type folders.... Once we've built a list, the script (should) rip through, banning ip's using iptables. The line in q...
Hi there - I looked at the pet maker but couldn't get my head round it.
You're far better off going for the installer on the apache friends website - its a snip to install and you're guaranteed to get a clean install that way.
bash-4.1# /etc/init.d/rc.httpd start /usr/sbin/httpd: error while loading shared libraries: libpcre.so.0: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64 <root> ~ bash-4.1# http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-linux.html After some failed attempts with other pets and sfs files, the above linked version runs fine. Hi again... <root> ~ bash-4.1# smbpasswd bash: smbpasswd: command not found How would you recommend I install smbpasswd? Would this pet be suitable? Simply, Teaching FATDOG to SAMBA (Full Windows Sharing) http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=62488 The link on the top of that page is miss...
Many thanks for the response Tazoc ... The GLXGEARS demo (MENU / SYSTEM / SYSTEM TOOLS / LIGHTHOUSE 3D-DEMO) currently produces the following error with the pet driver - although it was fine at one point - I checked yesterday and all was fine : "... Close this window for next demo. Accumulating...
"Stick with the pet you're using right now." Many thanks for the advice - I've tried several different drivers and still no joy. This is a known problem? I couldn't find any other posts relating to it, so thought I had it wrong... I'll keep watching this thread for updates / ideas. This p...
In order to get my warcraft server back up and running quickly, i used an old copy of a 3 series apache / php / mysql .sfs which I have mounted on startup with bootmanager. The mysql side runs (much to my suprise) once overwritten with a prior copy of the data. However, the apache / httpd side will ...

Thanks so much for the 64 bit puppy. Couple of things have happened during my frugal setup: I could not install / compile the nvidia 64 driver from the Nvidia website - error due to compiler version 4.5 not required 4.4 - so I used the nvidia driver pet: NVIDIA-260.19.21-k2.6.35.7-L1.pet I use vmwar...
