I take always unrar in a terminal. It's very fast and handles password-protected archives as well as multi-files archives. Just type

Code: Select all

unrar x <filename>
and you're ready for taking off... :)

Slacko 5.3.3: jre installs with missing libraries

When I installed the jre-1.6.31-slacko (have done it 3 times), the installation ended with the message: missing libraries libjvm.so libmawt.so libodbcinst.so libodbc.so I need jre to install jdownloader. After the jre-installation I installed jdownloader as described on jdownloader.org. The ...

I think, the .csh-files were a "legacy" from an unsucssessful installation of the desktop-wiki "zim". So I remove them now from /etc/profile.d and the error messages appears no more. :)

webcam from HP625 notebbok wirth Slacko? [solved]

I installed Slacko on my HP625-box, which has an integrated webcam. Now I'm looking for an app like "cheese" (debian), where I can use my webcam to grab photos.

Does anyone have a hint for me? Thanks in advance.

How do I edit the JWM menu in Slacko 5.3 [solved]

I tried to install PCMANFM from the salix-repo but it didn't work well, so I remove it. But the menu-entry for pcmanfm still appears, so I want to remove it manually. Maybe I'm blind bit I didn't find an utility (like PMENU in older puppys) to edit the JWM-menu, so I have to do it manually. WHERE ...

I installed slacko today on my old notebook and OOB all run very well. Then I installed "zim" (a desktop wiki) from the salix repos.
