Anyone??? In case you're not sure what I'm wanting... I'm looking for somewhere I can download that file. I've tried searching for any variation; tolua++; libtolua++; .deb file and many others but it seems no-one has it :( Can anyone point me to the file or some other solution so that I can run my c...

Conky on Slacko 6.3.2 missing lib file (solved)
G'day all, it's been a while since I was on this forum but I've run into a problem. I had Slacko 6.3.0 installed and running nicely, until I did some updating using the Updates Manager-latest from Slackware. Since then I haven't been able to boot to the desktop :( That being said, I thought it was t...

G'day all, Well, I did it again, it might be a cheat (once again) but it worked. I have been trying to find a way to put the rc.shutdown from 5.6 into 5.7 but because it is read-only when viewing the contents of the .sfs, I haven't been able to do it yet. But, in all of that investigating, I thought...

Could you make sure you are using the no-pae version. http://ftp.nluug.nl/ftp/pub/os/Linux/distr/puppylinux/puppy-slacko-5.7/slacko-5.7-NO-pae.iso Thanks bigpup, no, with the no-pae version I get no wifi whatsoever and it still has the shutdown issue. I tried a second download of the no-pae version...

Well, I did it :D I think I cheated but it worked  I deleted the savefile in 5.7 and left the partition otherwise intact, then I installed 5.6 to another partition, made all the usual changes and made the savefile for it. I then copied this savefile to the 5.7 partition and voila  Now, the...

killapup, A bad save file could cause this. Delete it and try to make a new one. I assume everything seems to be OK, before making the save file. Some info on name, size, and type would help. What changes are you making before doing a save? bigpup, I tried your suggestion, I reinstalled and got the...

For those who are following my saga, try this for size :? I thought the last issue was a tricky one, well, have a look at the attached file and see what I got this time. I've managed to repartition my drive into something more logical and have a few of my installs on the new setup, a couple of...

Thanks bigpup and David, I wouldn't have thought of that in a million years, I will try it and see what happens. I might leave it till I rearrange my partitions, though, I've been thinking about getting my partitions in some sort of proper order, I think most of you would be horrified if you saw the...

Thanks again bigpup, for your suggestions and help, I tried reformatting the partition, three times just to be sure, but still no result. I tried pasting the suggested menu entry into my menu.lst, I tried running grub4dos and running the entry generated from there, and I still get the same end resul...

killapup, Have you ever done a file system check of each of those partitions? Run the program Gparted and have it do a check of the hard drive. To use Gparted: Boot with the Puppy live CD At the Puppy boot screen hit F2 key. Use the boot option puppy pfix=ram. This keeps the hard drive from being m...

I am wondering if the Grub4dos in Slacko 5.7 has something wrong with it. I had a problem using it,had to use a different version of Puppy, and run the Grub4dos in it. Could you boot with a different Puppy version on say a live CD. Run Grub4dos Bootloader config in it. Default settings should be fi...

Bigpup wrote, Does your Grub4dos menu.lst entry look like this: The kernel line and initrd line? Now here's a tricky one: I decided to do a manual frugal install of Slacko 5.7, I've never installed a Puppy that way before, thought I'd give it a try. So, I copied the 3 files to the partition and ran grub4dos to get the info I need for my menu.lst. As expected, it wouldn't boot with the info supp...

Sorry to hear that another issue came up... Perhaps you could try to install it on USB flash - in this case syslinux would be in use instead of grub4dos. But actually, in order to test the older rc.shutdown you don't need to install Slacko anywhere, just boot it from CD, replace the file and shut d...

Hey SFR, I installed Slacko to try the suggestion you made but I can't get it to boot up :( Frugal install told me it couldn't find the .sfs and a full install just would not start the boot process. I use grub4dos and I know that these issues are related to the parameters but I use the menu entries ...

G'day all, I've just discovered FluxPup, it looks great. I don't think I've tried a Fluxbox distro before so when I saw it, I had to give it a try. I'm impressed, and being a Puppy, I could make it my main linux. :D I've installed it frugally and had only one minor glitch so far. The first run of PP...
