There is a utility program called 'slock' that blacks out your screen and this will fool people into thinking that your computer isn't booted up. How to lock screen while download continues?
I have slow internet access, so I want to be able to start a download and walk away after locking the screen. Acer Aspire 5610Z Intel 1.6 GHz processor 1 GB Ram I have tried this on: Wary 5.5 Precise 5.7.1 Slacko 5.7 Sulu All with no success; the download stops upon locking the screen. Any suggestio...

I have successfully booted both Slacko and Precise Puppy from a USB thumb drive on an iMac. Not sure if it will work on a MacBook.
