Jemimah,

Yes - a keyboard/mouse and a printer. Its not a problem to me, just thought you should know. The Linux script works no problem.

Problem with Bootinst.bat

Jemimah, Just tried the RC3. When I tried to make the USB stick bootable in Win 7, I got the following error message. "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \device\Harddisk2\DR2" With an SD card the number is 3. By pressing some sequence of Cancel, Continue, Try A...

Ah, the joys of testing. We should all do what jemimah has done, and buy used machines for testing purposes only. Jake Actually that's about all I use mine for! It was bought for an extended trip to Oz & NZ, and now mainly gets used for trying out versions of Puppy & Pupeee. Xandros self-de...

OK - I've now got 4.2 to recognise my Wireless adaptor. I completely removed the frugal install of 3.5 from the machine. Obviously it was picking something from that install, but I'm not sure what as I had renamed the save file and it didn't use that. I thought all the other files were version speci...

I checked the MD5 sums - all Ok. I have now tried with the Atom files - same result! At the moment I am trying to boot from a USB stick. I have tried a couple of different sticks. Its not important - I have a frugal instal of Beta 3.5 (I thnk) and have just loaded a full install of Puppy 4.3.1 onto ...

I realised it was picking up an earlier save file, have now stopped that, and now get the " Your wireless card was not detected. Please enable in the BIOS" ..which it is.

Beta 4.2 on 900 no wifi!

Jemimah,

I tried the latest Beta (4.2) on my 900 but it doesn't load the wireless module. I did lsmod and it came back empty!

I don't see anyone else reporting this fault which is strange! I think it needs the Ath5k module.

Re: Black Screen on reboot

I was an idiot on the first install, when the install configured the display I chose 1024 x 768 at the prompt instead of using the 900a's spec of 1024 x 600. At least I think this was the problem since it has not reoccured upon reinstalling and using the display of 1024 x 600. For what its worth, m...

I wanted to use PuppeeeArcade on usb while having Puppeee ofrugal on internal hd. Well PArcade keeps on copying his eee431.sfs on sda on boot and also loads the eeesave file on sda, even if there's one on the usb key. Jemimah -I think this is how I got the problems. I did a quick test of 435 and lo...

It was picking up the 3.4 file(s). I removed them from sda1, and 3.5 now works!

It appears that when it finds an eeesave file, it switches to that partition somehow! It copies the eee-435 file to that partition as well as to RAM.

Jemimah I have a full installation of Beta 3.4 on sda1, and a Frugal install of Puppy 4.3.1 on sdb1. I selected NOT to use either of the save files. I will do some more checking as you suggest later today. It is not particularly important to get 3.5 working - 3.4 does everything I want. I was just t...

It might be a good idea to check the md5sums on the files. You can find them in the version file. To generate an md5sum open a terminal and run 'md5sum <filename>'. All files check out except vmlinuz which I have now downloaded several times - still can't agree checksum! Is it me or is the value in...

barriew, open an terminal and run lsmod. If it shows that no modules are present, then you must have forgotten to get the ze435315.sfs (it needs to have that exact name to be loaded by the new version). Jemimah, Have re-downloaded everything and still the same result. lsmod returns nothing. I was u...

As it says in the title really. 3.4 and Puppy4.3.1 all work OK, but running Beta 3.5 says 'no wireless module detected - turn on in BIOS', but it is!!

Jemimah After a clean boot, with all files newly downloaded, everything works on my 20Gb eee900 ath5k. Only slight issue is that when the volume is muted, this does not show on the speaker icon, but a "Volume Muted" message does flash up. I can't see this is a major problem,in fact I norma...

I did have this problem, but I tracked it down to my having started with WEP security, then switching to WPA. I solved the problem, I think, by deleting the WEP config file.

Kenny-M

That looks like my set-up, except that I use the XP printer's 'share' name, not the print queue - or is that what you mean by the queue name?

I assume that you were able to find the correct PPD file for you printer. Mine is a Canon.
