Running Opera Mini via an emulator will be a better option. I've been using it for years as my default quick browser and I'm actually posting here running it. http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?search_id=839148931&t=106514 Cool experiment! I'm posting from emulated Opera Mini. There are ...

There is a new fork called Lobo Evolution at https://github.com/oswetto/Loboevolution Sounds interesting. I going to put this on my list of things to try. I always thought it would be nice if you could easily add web like functionality to java GUIs. Perhaps this software would make this much easier ...

This is blazing fast on my desktop pc with winxp!! Pity it does not work on latest Slacko 6.3 Please fix it! Could anyone contact QtWeb's author to see if he'd want to keep updating this marvel? His approach is following the engine used by Safari. Dunno if Nokia's Qt is a special flavour of Qt ...

Have you tried palemoon browser? Palemoon, Firefox, Chromium, Opera.. did not get to run. I seem to remember newer versions from 2014 onwards dont support old processors without sse2. I'm using Seamonkey and Slimjet. When I try to use Google office Puppy freezes and I have to reset. Really, I think ...

Google Drive crashes Slacko in old Eee PC netbook

Google's online office (drive.google.com) crashes my 'Eee pc'netbook with Slacko Puppy. I'm using Seamonkey browser. It seems like this online office is incompatible with old machines. Is there any walkaround to work offline with a compatible office and just synchronize with their servers? BTW ...

We still need this information!! Desktop PC is what? Make and model? Specs if you know them? Specific Puppy version? Example: Slacko 6.3.0 Sure! There you have a report: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3152568/PROPIETA-51EAB0.HTM I suspect there might be problems with the graphic card because ...

Thanks! Probably it's best to remaster Puppy Arcade. I would rather confine the distro to software for the Speccy. There are lots of emulators for that platform which are obsolete and would be nice to rescue them in a single puppy place easy to boot from a usb stick. How could I use Sinclair's font ...

@Flash Quirky Werefolf sounds good. Pity it's just for 64-bit machines. Many of the emulators, games databases.. from the emulators and utilities sections on worldofspectrum.org : http://www.worldofspectrum.org/emulators.html http://www.worldofspectrum.org/utilities.html are not compatible with ...

Ok I'll try 'remove bult-in packages'. What do you mean by 'remaster'? Maybe it would not so much a size matter but a way to speed the boot up? One of the examples that occurs to me is How could I provide a puppy with just gparted and xfe, without internet connection? Another one could be launching ...

Thanks for telling me the Woof,Core roads to follow. I'm afraid they are full of potholes to me :) I thought it would be as "simple" as uninstalling apps from within any Puppy by using the package manager and just share the resulting .sfs

Hi. Thanks for the help!
The url for Lick app is : https://github.com/noryb009/lick/releases
I'll try to defrag my hd. It may take very long :)
If I install Puppy from CD, is it easy to make a dual boot alongside winxp.
I like Lick. It's a winluser friendly tool ha!
I'll keep you posted

How to make a Puppy with only java, xfce and gparted?

Hi. I'd like to know how to make a distro with only java, xfce and gparted. How can one run puppy with just the necessary to run just a single program? I was thinking to make a small distro to launch an 8-bit microcomputer emulator. The idea is to remove everything but the software. So my question ...

Thanks. Sorry I hardly uderstood your post :) I can try with a cd if I find one around here. Lick worked fine on my winxp netbook and tried a bunch of distros too before leaving the current one (slacko). However there is this problem on my desktop pc. I reckon there may be some hardware issue.. BTW ...

LICK ! Kerl, are you able to burn and boot CD's? Now the partition you're talking about.. How is it formatted? I'd prefer the lick route before burning cds. What do you mean by partition format? :D LICK does everything. It reserves a maximum size for your savefile. I think it is saved within a ...

@mostly_lurking

Thanks for the file browser tip!

As for the boot problem, it's a savefile as performed by lick.
More than ten minutes it takes to load. Afterwards the system is sluggish.
As I said, this happens on my desktop pc unlike my notebook where puppy seems to work fine.
