overall puppies security question
omHello. I'm a musician, and I have tons of stuff in windows that I want to keep away from the internet. So I've been using only various linux distros for the internet, usually puppies. I've been doing this for years. For the sake of getting to the point, If you are browsing the internet as root ...

Thank you for Slacko64!
I don't post much here because there is no need to. I've always been able to figure out any problems with puppies on my own from the info here. After hanging on to Lighthouse 602 for years (really), the browsers have become so old they cannot show most sites correctly. I decided the time was now to ...

64 bit pupsaveconfig (solved)
The very first thing I did when trying new puppies was go to the event manager and set auto save to "0", and then install pupsaveconfig-2.2.5.pet. I did this because I run from a USB drive and I have OCD about puppy hammering away at it unnecessarily. Also, if I screw something up, I have the option ...

FatDog 620 won't save changes (solved)
I'm trying out Fat Dog 620 for the first time and I really like it. I'm excited to find another 64 bit puppy that is solid and looks like it will work better than what I was using previously. Definitely a keeper. But I'm having real problems with the pupsave file. First off, I run everything from a ...

How to fix screwed up mbr?
I have an Acer 725 laptop with Windows 7 64 bit and no optical drive. I proceeded to put Lighthouse on a usb plug and have it boot from the usb first but I messed up installing Grub4dos; I put it on the PQSERVICE recovery partition, sda1, and not the usb, sdb1, like I meant to. Then I made things ...

Thanks for your replies. When I tried installing Xorg_High-1.1-Lucid.pet in Slacko 5.4, X wouldn't start up again and I just got a flashing cursor. So I tried on 5.7 and did the same thing (I like the changes in 5.7). This time X started up again, but when I try glxgears in console I get: "Error ...

Xorg High for Slacko?
I have a mutiple boot usb plug that includes Lucid Puppy 520 and Slacko 5.4. I installed something called Xorg High from Quickpet in Lucid and it works fantastic, I get almost 300 FPS in Glxgears, and lots if 3D games load and run smoothly. Slacko only offers Mesa and and no matter what I do I can ...

PHATSlacko problems
I've been having some problems with PhatSlacko that I put off asking for help with. Several packages in it are rendered useless because the open file dialog is frozen. All that will respond to a mouse click is the cancel button. This happens in Gimp and Libre office, any package that uses this type ...

Bumping this because I found a workaround and failed to post it here. I solved the problem by mounting the pupsave from another puppy and deleting whatever I wanted to link from it that way. To do this type: mount /mnt/sdxX/(name of)pup_save.2fs /mnt/data -o loop Thanks Bruce for trying to help. I ...

Symlinks aren't saved; original files are restored
Hi. I'm having trouble creating symlinks. Say, I install Gimp. The tray indicator of how much space I have in my pupsave goes from 265 to 175M. So I see the bulk of the installation went into /usr/lib/Gimp and /usr/share/Gimp. First I copy those folders to a partition on my usb plug that is ...
