The more I think bout this issue... the more I want to find a cheap atom tablet, flush android out and install puppy with no password. Then connect either a bluetooth keyboard (or find some app so my phone can become one) or find another app with a screen keyboard. Jwn could get some updates for som...

I get the idea of running ARM. But the main issue is that the phone wouldn't be able to "expand" on a more powerful machine. I found the edge project interesting but the phone was just too much. Puppy is made to run few resources, so a weaker mobile device might be enough for most works bu...

The idea would be to boot from a normal pc. The android phone would just be a carry on.

After must discussion with some work collegues it's clear to me the problems of linux to each user. One asked me if he should switch to linux, I answ...

Re: Some stupid questions about apps in linux.

But, can I create a folder name /home/apps/blender/ put the app there and work from it without problem? Or will this create issues in the long run? I do this with all my browsers (Opera, Firefox, Iron),with inkscape and some other small programs. No problems so far. The only inconvenience: Most app...

Some stupid questions about apps in linux.

Hello there everyone, I'm farly new to linux, and these are some of the questions I have about how linux works. In windows, I liked having portable apps. In the sense that to me, there were two kind of programs: mine and the system. Mine are my working programs: blender, gimp, etc. System's are the ...

...and 2fs is all the other files that are loaded Wrong. The stuff in the .2fs [pupsave] file is only loaded if/when, needed... [Like if you run a program that's held in the pupsave; there by virtue of having been installed using a PET file] Otherwise stuff in the pupsave isn't loaded. i.e. Some is...

Hi dult, and welcome to puppyworld! In this day and age, imagine for students if what was though was 'carry this pen, plug it in the pc and work'. No need for maintenance of the schools pcs, they don't even need hdd! Just a processor (kinda minimalistic here, give me a break). I guess you explored ...

It's just a first line of defense. If someone wants to crack something, they will. Though for the most casual user, if he can't access in a jiffy it's not worth the trouble. He will just format the USB.

Now I understood. Personally in windows, I much prefer using portable apps, though they are a bit buggy. One thing that always moved me against windows folder management was: C:/User/Documents/users/userBlah/files/documents (not exactly but you get the point) I need to study some more to reorganize ...

Guys; I`ve said this many times. Pet packages fill up the Save file. Don`t use them.! SFS and RoxApp packages are no-install apps, so they don`t bloat the Save. So then the Save file can be very small, say 64 MB. Then when USB Puppy is shut down it doesn`t take 10 minutes to back it up. But for thi...

Linux Puppy greatest strength

Hello everyone, I'm new to Linux, I've been learning Puppy for a wee bit now and I like it. There are some issues bust I'm not that worried because I've learned (by osmosis) that in Linux, I can change things to my liking. It's great. Thanks for the replies. I'm liking to work with Linux Puppy, and I look forward to customizing it to my liking. I have my laptop divided into two partitions. Usually one was for windows and apps and the other for working files. I'm thinking of keeping it that way with puppy. I was thinking of gettin...
