All done with my Debian experiment. Cannot say I liked it much. To big of an operating system, bloated, slow, and there is all that password nonsense again! Ugh! Stoooooooopid! And it gets worse! I save all my master files on another partition, and so even when I do get in with the "su" command on ...

I will of course recommend Debian, it has it all! 43000 program packages on 3 DVDs containing some 12Gb of Linux goodies. But I won't. Or, maybe... One of the problems is the massive number of programs. A program in this context may be anything from a simple command to an office suite. You'll need ...

Thanks for the response, everyone! Perhaps you are right and Emacs is a little much for Puppy, Quirky, and for what I want to do. I have been using Geany as my text editor ever since I came over to Linux about a year-and-a-half ago. I am happy with Geany, but I am expanding from doing a little HTML ...

Emacs, Anyone? (Solved)
I am wondering if there is anyone using Emacs with their Puppy or Quirky. I cannot find one to install for Quirky. I did install a couple of different Emacs with Precise, but they did not work. If there is anyone using Emacs with a Puppy or Quirky, please let me know which Pup and which Emacs are ...

Re: Internet Connectivity Problem
I'm running Quirky April64 7.2 on hard disk and USB. Suddenly wireless card stops working. Can't connect. I try booting from two other USB Quirkies. Still no go. Wifi light is off. Switch is on. When using Simple Network Setup and scanning for networks, just before the networks are displayed ...

I upgraded on my hard drive from 7.0.4.1 to 7.2 -- and it's all smooth sailing. Looks great! Thanks for the upgrade! I then booted my 64-bit Quirky USB stick and clicked the Quirky Version Upgrade Manager and it told me there wasn't enough room on the partition for the upgrade. That can't be right ...

I know what you mean. I have had a few USB sticks stop working, too. Others, most of them, seem to keep going no matter how much I abuse them. So I do not trust them either. I always do my USB stick back up with at least two sticks, another back up on another laptop, and still another on an external ...

It took a little time and a few mistakes before I discovered the best value I can find in flash drives: I get them from eBay as name-brand only refurbished units that come with money back guarantee. I got several SanDisk 32 gig refurbs for under eight bucks each. I found a 64 gig for twelve bucks ...

I installed the Python 2.7.6 programming language package I found in the Quirky package manager and can't tell what it is supposed to be doing. I thought it was the Python program for learning the Python language, but can't find any GUI or terminal command that will open any program--or anything at ...

I thought so. Something was clearly wrong with these sticks I bought. The Windows machine could see them and use them, but the Linux machines could not. Something was clearly amiss. It doesn't matter anymore. The seller took them back and I am getting different ones. If anyone knows where the good ...

Well, now that I know these 128 gig flash drives won't worky with Quirky and I have to send them back, can anyone tell me what to get what will worky with Quirky? What is the largest size USB flash that will work? The biggest USB flash drives I have are only 16 gig. I have to get bigger ones. I have ...
