Firefox-62.0.2

Hi. Update: I used the quantum 60 version of Firefox for checking email, without audio, and went back to my working version 45 for general surfing with audio. But this morning , firefox did an update to version 63, and I now have audio...I think. Yay. Thanks for your help. :)

Compiling cmake-3.12.2

Hi to all, especially Oscar and Keef. Oscar, in using the Cmake 3.7.2 Things go better, but still not getting things compiled, so It makes me think I should upgrade the gcc as you both suggest. Any idea where I can get a .pet from? I see they are up to version 8.2 now on the gcc site. I tried a slac...

Compiling cmake-3.12.2

Thanks Keef. And Oscar again . Thanks for the cmake update Oscar. I will give it a go. It will short cut things a bit maybe. Installing a cmake3.0 did exactly the same problems. and gcc seems to work, but who knows. I am doing this for experience as much as getting something working. Unfortunately t...

Compiling cmake-3.12.2

HI all . :) I got hold of a cmake 3.0 version. Super easy to get going. The package I got from cmake website repository was just a usr directory, with sub-directories and files. Copied the files to the same directories on the puppy system and in the terminal it seemed to go (did 'cmake -version' in ...

Compiling cmake-3.12.2

Thank you so much s243a and OscarTalks . Yes you are right, I am using Slacko 5.7.. Yes I know, upgrade... I am in South America , using old equipment even for here, to do Television Production. I have spent several years scouring the internet for compatable programs with the 5.7 and have like 8gb o...

Compiling cmake-3.12.2

Hi, I am trying to get into compiling. One of the frustrations of Puppy (among its many glories) is the lack of updated programs and waiting for someone else to compile and make a .pet for you and your particular puppy, maybe, one day, possibly, if ever. So I would like to become that 'someone that ...

Fluid Synth and Ardour

Thanks for that. No problems. Yes I have slacko, which a few years ago looked great, and I have trawled the net for compatible programs and got a workable system with lots of tools I use regularly, so I am a little reluctant to switch to another flavor. It does seem Precise puppy has quite a support...

Thank you very much for doing that. :) Unfortunately I get fatal:failed to append'/initrd/pup_ro6' to unifonts. So it did not load...:( I have slacko puppy 5.70 . ( That is because it's what I started with, and it has taken a lot of effort to get my entire workflow onto one puppy that works, and it ...

Fluid Synth and Ardour

Hi, thank you for this program. It opened in a puppy 5.7 right off. :) I have just managed to install Ardour 3.5.3 (it's the most recent I can find that will install on the puppy 5.7 ) I am doing video, and so far it is looking excellent for scoring the videos. However, the midi only has a simple in...

Cinelerra

Hi to all interested in Cinelerra. I just thought I would give an update after trialing CV2.2 and GG5.1. in real life work situations, for a while now. But first: Thanks Mike for the .pet and sfs of the GG5.1 version. The sfs installed fine on my slacko 5.7 puppy. However the .pet did not have a men...

Cinelerra

Hi everyone. Quite right Norgo...An entry into the menu was made when installing the sfs 2.3cv , but due to dependencies missing, it just defaulted to the 2.2cv already installed on the slacko 5.7 system. Similarly Mike, the same with the .pet and sfs you did. However, I still have what looks like a...

Cinelerra

HI All, Thanks Norgo. I was able to install the sfs on a puppy slacko 5.7.. (I assume it will also be ok for the 6.3) In the 'about' tab in the preferences, it looks like it is a 2.2cv version.(not quite the 2.3cv .) but that's ok. Thanks. I have uploaded, to my onedrive, a copy of the ubuntu packag...

Cinelerra 4.2

Thanks Norgo, In a way you are right about the 4K in 2.2cv. There is no preset, but you can manually input the output dimensions and still do it. I did a clip yesterday in 4096x2160. The duo core I am using to test it would not background preview render and would crash it. So one great and easy thin...

Cinelerra 4.2

Hi guys. Thanks for all the work. Mike, the 5.0 pet installed fine on my Slacko 5.7 puppy. It would seem it is from the HV branch. Pretty good. The background preview rendering crashes a duo core comp. The 2.2cv crashes the same comp with 4k video, so it could be the comp just doesn't have what it t...

Cinelerra 4.2

Hi again . Thanks for that mike, and MikesLr. I will give it a go. Yes, each of the three have different plugins and abilities, even though on face falue they look the same in the Gui. On the cinelerra-cv.org site there is a comparison sheet pdf with all the differences between the three. GG5.1 has ...

Cinelerra 4.2

Oh, Mike. I forgot to answer some comments. First, I think Puppies are the way to go, even for TV/Cine etc, but for the life of me I can't get anyone interested, even when I give them my whole combo. They hear the word 'linux' and freeze. But, think of the thousands of hours we spent learning window...

Cinelerra 4.2

Thank you so very much for the help Mike. I have installed the 4.2.pet. All good so far. I will now do some trials over time to see how it reacts. I am still using Slacko Puppy 5.7 by the way. I tried going to 6.3, but had lots of problems, so went back to 5.7 for now. As I said, stability and somet...

Cinelerra video editor

Thanks for the reply Pelo. Yes indeed I am using Cinelerra. I am a New Zealander, TV producer in Colombia South America. I finally got fed up with Adobe and Windows stranglehold on video production and went linux. I tried at least a dozen flavours of systems, and settled on Puppy as THE BEST to get ...
