Re: wlan0 not seen after initial save/reboot - LxPupTahr 15.02.1
Hi rawmilk905 Please try blacklisting the wl driver as that is present in LxPupTahr and is known to sometimes claim wifi devices erroneously. After a first reboot, go: Menu -> System -> System -> Boot Manager -> Modules -> Blacklist module and move wl into the right hand pane then reboot. Cheers ...

There are some XFCE desktop pets in the forum Additional Software->Desktop This I will try. Though I remember seeing something about using X-Slacko instead of installing XFCE. Are there issues with desktops in builds of Puppy that were not designed for them? You could try one installed to Tahrpup 6 ...

@rawmilk: You should report your WiFi issue in the LxPup thread. It has occasional problems where you need to blacklist a rogue driver. This one? Problems with the X-Slacko PPM should be reported in its thread. I've had troubles with most every PPM that wasn't tied to current Ubuntu repositories ...

In between reading this, I have tried deleting and remaking a save doing nothing but the startup wizard (time zone, firewall, hostname, etc.) before shutting down to save, as soon as I boot from a save wlan0 doesn't exist anymore. On the live boot before the save everything's fine. Is there a Tahr ...

Yes, I made the recommended 512 MB save. You will probably want to make that bigger if you add very many programs. You can change the size by using the Resize personal storage file Usually in menu->Utility I only expect to add Firefox, Keepassx, and maybe Chromium. Puppy seems to have everything ...

If the USB drive had been used by Windows for anything. Windows will have most likely fragmented the file system. This can cause save file issues, because when you make the save file it will be fragmented. I doubt Windows touched the drive, Mint is my primary OS but I am dual boot with Windows 7 ...

How is the USB drive partitioned and formatted? The USB stick is FAT32, one single 16GB partition. I'm fairly certain this is the way unetbootin likes/requires/defaults to. Was it freshly partitioned and formatted before the install? Yes, it was freshly formatted prior to the install, but not upon ...

wlan0 not seen after initial save/reboot - LxPupTahr 15.02.1
I tried the vanilla JWM TahrPup, even though I can't tolerate that desktop, and had a similar problem, but "ifconfig wlan0 up" in the terminal fixed it right away. Not the case here, I'm getting "ifconfig: SIOCGIFFLAGS: no such device" and prior to the first reboot when setting up the save file ...
