Are you getting a valid IP address on your subnet, like 192.168.x.y and not a bogus address like 169.254.x.y?

Open a terminal and run: ping 8.8.8.8
Do you get a response?

Check the file /etc/resolv.conf. Does it show a valid nameserver?

I am disappointed that you did not give your endorsement to Samba4 Basic, even though it is 30% smaller and has complete documentation.
