See if chain.c32 is in /usr/lib/syslinux The "syslinux" directory doesn't even exist with /usr/lib. Just to make sure something is not wrong with the file system. Run Gparted and do a check on the ext4 partition. Not sure what kind of check you meant, but I checked the properties of the partition ...

When I get the time, that's what I want to focus on next; however, I also want to try to wipe my current T-bird installation clean from my system and just start from the beginning with a good, self contained, thunderbird.sfs file. How I do remove something that I installed just unpacking a tar ball ...

Cannot use Grub4dos with ext4 formatting [solved]
Hi all, I'm trying to write a bootloader with Grub4dos to an ext4 formatted partition and I seem to be missing some library. (For Tahrpup 6.0.5) Attatched are the screenshots showing my process, including error dialogue boxes. The final error message in grub4dosconfig.log is: Writing... /mnt/sdc1 ...

Ok found them, but I'm a bit hesitant to remove them. Are those related to my previous attempts to install XAMPP, or are they something that ships with Puppy? Will it not cause other problems with other operations/apps if I remove them? On a secondary note, does anyone have a very up-to-date SFS of ...

Definitely downloaded launchy that way. I'm 90% certain that I did that version of Kupfer that way too, but I can't be 100% certain because I tried so many avenues. Launchy always worked for me (though quite buggy). Thanks for pets. I do prefer the sfs' though. I guess I could always roll back to a ...

I've been trying Rojun's solution of manually adding a group and user but I'm running into this error on terminal in Tahrpup6.0.5: Adding group `mysql' (GID 1001) ... addgroup: `/usr/sbin/groupadd -g 1001 mysql' returned error code 1. Exiting. Any suggestions? I also tried running: adduser -G mysql ...

Copied and pasted directly: puppy_tahr64_6.0.5.sfs Just noticed something. Perhaps I neglected earlier in the thread to say that I'm running a 64 bit version. (I'm pretty sure I did but I can't remember and don't have the history handy.) In any case, I did mentioned that I had gotten Kupfer to run ...

What specifically are you doing to install Puppy? Type install? Frugal or full? Installed to what? I did a frugal install some time ago. Regular, old .iso burn to a USB. Formatted what? fat32 Is location a fresh clean format? To my knowledge, yes. I had formatted, then installed. What program used ...

True Mike, but on the other hand most work one does on a computer requires the OS to be rock solid and stable, etc.. Foundations are important. I think the difference with my work in this case is that when your done troubleshooting for the day, you don't really want to troubleshoot again and/or be ...

Great insight guys. I can see Puppy being a daily driver for many then. 3 examples would be: 1.) The user who uses mainstream, daily computing program/apps like the ones you mentioned drunkjedi: browser, libreoffice, gimp, vlc. 2.) The "Chromebook" kind of user you mainly uses online apps and the ...
