woof development and elsewhere

I've been away for some time and will be back working on a project started a few years back ago. I have been through a few moves, and have to do some hunting to find where I left off. I hit alpha but could not get savebacks to commit. The project is essentially a new distro containing the best aspec...

Glad to see so many users willing to contribute to open development! I've been cold for 2 years now, but am going to start looking back at new compilations and see what's changed. As for everyone saying you don't know linux..that's OK. Linux kernel is very established, and the key players aren't lea...

Barry, I'm just reading this all and need to comfirm this. Are you moving away from T2? What package management are you trying to work with? The PPM can be recoded to incorporate others. I did it. I'd love a team to help code a new Package manager that doesn't exist and would work for ALL distros. M...

In reguards to the Looping question: A union file system takes a basic boot image then "loops" in more file sytems. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UnionFS The idea here is that this would be the skeleton key of computers. A elegantly simple yet robust methodology and application of one OS th...

Exactly! Its AMORPHOUS in that way. Barry proved loop mounting with Puppy. Scripts and the bare CL interface will be the low content. Im thinking one superscript that is retained always. and executes with a universal purpose of migration.

Yeah guys! I noticed that a few versions of linux using aufs Layer the kernels! SOOOoo...if instead of our curent simple init scheme with just a few options, I'm thinking of a chipset and hardware step where puppy rolls through at boot. I need to get the PM system built. Im pretty sure THAT alone is...

My new OS concept

So after a crazy divorce, a struggle to stay financially afloat, and a period of recovery, I am happy to say I seek to be back up to date with the works! I noticed that the build chains emerging FROM woof cross builds aren't very large. Has there been any particular reason? Barry, I've looked over T...

First, the art is great. Simple, easy on the eyes. SUPER fast apps(fastest ever!) i never even got to let my mouse button unclick! network wizard fails to find anything(nic or wireless intel 3945ABG), never had that happen before. From cd, xorg wizard works; From USB xorgwizard fails? woof: slack bu...

i'd hold out on fit-pc2. there is another cheaper one due soon. The pico-itx board is already being updated. the new board is HD capable and has a better array of support peripherals in development. Big topic for me.

Wow. This is really very upsetting. @Ecomoney Ecomoney, you have made many excellent suggestions. However, you are very aggressive in the pursuit of your desires. This is an asset in many businesses, but not in the OSS world. It's time consuming for everyone involved. To push anyone with excessive p...

Why? If you create a new user and limit all priveledges to just the browser and running extensions, and have that user the default login. Then symlink the browser into the startup. then you could always get back to using periferials and an interface.

failed downloading busybox pet specified within woof a9. It did not exist, nor did the specified linux kernel(the v4 ticks you spoke of in blog). I can manually correct my own, but figure there was a reason for this. minimal others, this was the based on a ubuntu distro_specs setup. I saw that you s...

hey guys, I built with a?-a5 and now a7. The major issue i've had has been the lack of libs post build. this is in every build (slack, deb, etc.) my a5 deb build has been stable enough for regular use. @barryk- have you thought about keeping ppm just for puppy, and instead having the build specs call ...

Actually, barry stated on his blog that alpha 6 of Woof is still in his hands. I downloaded upup466 and devx, but have built a debian build prior to that. My Debian build seems much stronger AND is definetly faster than upup(tested on 4 machines). All of the icons display appropriately, and i have n...
