Thanks for the info on K6pack. I now have lupu 5.2 (not retro) working on my 11 yr. old amd k6-3. Its a little slower than 214x-top7, but still usable.
I did not install e2fsprogs. Will that do anything for the amd k6?

Hi rodin.s My puppy computer is also a AMD K6-3D 400 w/256mb. I can't use any puppy (or other distro for that matter) with kernel 2.6.30 or later. Some won't detect the hhd and can't be installed and some won't even boot. Most earlier kernels will work ok. I'm useing ttuuxxx's classic pup 214top5 no...

Hi peebee Running 214x from a subdirectory reguires different grub parameters than other versions of puppy. In addition to the pages suggested by jonT look at post by vg1 starting around page 5. You can also try just moving the .sfs files out of the subdirectory to / level but if you have other inst...

Shame because I'm not walking away from it any time soon Smile ttuuxxx 214x is the best os I have found for this old AMD K6-3 400. I have RC5 set as default and top 3, 4, and 5 have worked for me without any probl...

Hi rameses Still haven't figured out how to get the shutdown option for ICEWM.. Or install and use the royal theme in first post. However, I did find that I can go to menu, settings, themes. And I found an ok XP theme. You could also use a puppy (like 4.2.1) or puplet (lighthouse is one) with icewm ...

Hi EdurusFas The only difference I see in Teenpup 2009 is when using ALT-left click-drag the window does not move to the new location until the mouse button is released. Also there is a check box in roxfiler options to allow doubleclicking the window titlebar to resize the window. Although from what...

Hi EdurusFas If I knew more about how to do stuff with the differnt versions, I would try and take the sidepanel (and desktop folder) from the 2009, and install it on the 2010 version. The updated version of teenpup2009 based on the older kernel has not been released. It will also have a new name (n...

Hi GuyKL, Avast for linux will work on puppy. You can do a forum search on avast for more info. There is a .pet package available and it can also be installed by downloading form the avast website and extracting the files into a folder. There is a fix that has to be added to the rc.local file to get...
