I recently compiled nicoedit in msys2 on windows. Msys2 simulates a linux environment, uses pacman to get necessary libs. Had to make changes to bkcompile script and put Gtk. in front of every Menu and MenuItem. It runs outside of msys2 if I add some locations to windows' path.

Hi dposil, Unable to use tune2fs on dpup484.2fs save file. Message: tune2fs: /lib/libblkid.so.1: no version information available (required by tune2fs) Incidently, my frugal installation on an ext4 partition of dpup 484B4 is running great with a 3fs save file mounted as a journaling file system (co...

gposil, For later releases, please consider using 3fs for pupsave files or better yet, provide an option on initial reboot/shutdown to select 2fs, 3fs, or 4fs for save files. Thanks, Jim All recent puppies except one use use ext2. The save files are almost always containing errors and need e2fsck r...

I've noticed that dpup-devx-484.sfs has a lot of symlinks that are already in puppy. 4 of the libpango links point to non existant files, files that have slightly different names in dpup than in other pups. For example, libpango-1.0.so.0.2203.1 instead of libpango-1.0.so.0.2002.3. This messes up val...

Having it fsck every time you boot sounds like it will take extra time. It does. 0n a 500 meg savefile on my pent 4 2.4 ghz machine probably something like 5 extra seconds to boot. I once spent a day on the other hand trying to imperfectly recover data from a lost savefile. But pfix=fsck is certain...

You only see this issue when you do a fsck, not at shutdown time. I got this in several puppies already. Can't remember them all, but the latest case was with upup476. Haven't checked for a dpup yet. Booted up beta5, opened no programs, shutdown, got an not cleanly unmounted when I checked the part...

Re: Dpup482-beta5 testing
Eagerly awaiting beta5. Want to see if a frugal will cleanly unmount the partition at shutdown. Beta4 didn't. Also, dpup and several other puppies wont shut down in Xvesa, so hard to run in VirtualBox.gposil wrote:A new thread for beta5 testing....

Re: Puppy 4.3.1 -- bug reports and suggestions
puppy 4.3 with and without the bug fix applied won't see eth0. Do I need to compile a module, too? if anyone needs kernel source it is in http://puppylinux.com/sources/kernel-2.6.30.5/. Or, for something smaller, try ftp://mirror.csclub.uwaterloo.ca/archlinux/core/os/i686/kernel-headers-2.6.30.5-1-i...

Re: Cannot exit from multiuser puppy 4.2.1
The link is working for me right now too. Must have been a hiccup. just tried multi user puppy, and it does not want to shut down,it just restarts x,even trying from the terminal. Okay. I'll need some more information though: How are you trying to reboot? As root or as a user? If a user, is it a mem...

Re: Feedback & Bug-Fix Suggestions for Retro-Puppy 218 alpha
The glibc crashes flash 9 when you leave a flash site. This problem also happened in puppies 2.16 and earlier, but not in 2.17 because it had a newer glibc. Any chance of upgrading the glibc?

@Ralphv, Open a console and type 'modprobe snd-hda-intel' <Enter>. Then log out to a command line and re-run 'alsaconf'. If that doesn't help I would post on the forum at Hardware / Audio section. http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/index.php?f=29 Hope that helps, TazOC Found out my problem. I was usi...

Here's a large number of sfs files. They work best in the 2 series puppies, but some might work in the 4.1 puppy. ftp://ftp.slax.org/SLAX-5-modules/ Just rename a file to end in .sfs. Some of the files might ask for lib files not in puppy 4.1 Look here for libs http://www.puppylinux.ca/tpp/ttuuxxx/L...
