Hi Is there a way to run a xorgwizard or similar. I can boot to shell. If i run startx the system will crash since my device requires 800x600. I tried vga=788 and nomodeset. Anyone have a 1.8x version for trusty tahr pup? I used the bionic and the slackware pets and they work but some missing files for plugins. I can take the plugins from bionic and put them in .local but not perfect. Plays all mp3 but didnt play wma etc Maybe need these from the package manager? taken ...

I though i would give a bit of an update on my puppy trials. If i replace the kernel and zdrv with an old version like 3.4.x bionic will load but nothing will work just a frozen system. I've made a 32bit 4.14.133 NO PAE (for older systems) kernel via Puppy kernel-kit, with firmware - no fdrv needed. Is mostly Spectre/Meltdown mitigated. Is TCP_SACK mitigated. Thanks for the tips. I will actually try the frugal on a different partition. I was trying to add the driver or module to the kernel by modprobe... didnt have much luck at the moment. I can totally understand what you mean by the full vs frugal. I am just pushing the limits on an old machine for fun...

I tried many of the 4.3 puppy versions. I have an old laptop with 160 ram, p2 with ssd drive though. So far I really like 4.3 puppy with kde 3.5. I am trying to install to a old computer p2 160mb ram When I use the universal installer i get the error message, sanity check cannot find ce_slacko.sfs file.
