Ok, not such a big problem....but I've noticed that even enabling it, sylpheed doesn't minimize on the tray, it places an icon on the tray, but the label remains on the taskbar...I suppose it's something related to jwm or gtk code, but I'm not expert...it's a pity, since it should be very useful to ...

Hi, same thing for me too, Acer Aspire 5315 with intel graphics...quirky controls perfectly laptop backlight...it's just that I'm using puppies 4.31 and I find myself comfortable with it, I didn't want to change it....

Hi itzme, I don't think it's a hardware problem, ubuntu on the same machine is able to change brightness level....
As for your problem, sometimes I've happened to boot and the screen was totally dark, in that case I had to turn the laptop off removing also the battery, then it worked again.
