relativity
My problem with relativity is that I sometimes think I understand bits of the theory, but as soon as I start to think about the implications I run into problems. For example it seems true that a clock in a satellite must run at a different speed for SatNav to work. OK, this means that after a long t...

Physics Questions
Well, I've just ordered the book, but I was certainly under the impression that no information could be transmitted faster than the speed of light.

Strange, I just downloaded Buddapup Dingo from
www.puppylinux.ca/members/BuddaPup/ and it turned out to be the regular Dingo version.
OK...my mistake....you have to type
ctrl / alt / bkspce to drop out of X
then type xwin enlightenment_start
as mentioned earlier in this forum.

Magnetism: what is it?
We are all exposed to light and use loads of electromagnetic stuff, but I've no idea how it works. OK, you can do your research and come up with equations using E and B and c, but to reduce it to its simplest level, what is the real difference between a space containing a magnetic (or electric) fiel...

Much as I like Puppy (Dingo), it does give me hassle. My motherboard is ASUS M2N-E SLI, which has onboard sound. I've tried everything I can think of but I get no sound and I can't get my HP OfficeJet G55 to print (I've tried loads of drivers). On the same computer I have Mepis, which is fully featu...

How can I make Grub boot 2.16 from hda3? (Solved)
I have 1GB RAM and HD partitioned hda1,2,3 and swap. Partitions hda1 and 2 have 2.15CE working fine, loaded from an iso burned on a CD, I wanted to try 2.16 on hda3 and followed the same procedure as for 2.15, and although it works OK from the disc, and apparently loads on hda3, attempts to run it a...

Puppy won't boot from hd install without the CD
Bruce....thank you ever so much.
I've now got the hd partitioned as you suggested, installed the files, so the system boots from the hd alone and sets up the internet connection etc.
So I'm quite pleased, and thank you again for your interest and help.

Puppy won't boot from hd install without the CD
Well Bruce, I got tired of this problem so the hard disk is now formatted empty. It's nominally 30GB, and I need guidance (or pointing in the right direction) as to what type and size of partitions I should set up on it, and how to do it. I'd be happy with all Linux partitions. I know the informatio...

cd/hard disk
Bruce - thanks...
plenty of RAM (over 1 Gb)
The problem seems to be that my hd files (7 items) are on /dev/root/dev/hda1 which is a fat32 partition, but Grub won't load as it seems to want a Linux partition. It seems I need a bootloader that will work with fat32, or maybe I need a Linux partition.

Puppy won't boot from hd install without the CD
I've managed to transfer puppy from the cd to the hard drive, and am using the grub loader. Although it works well, it won't load unless the cd is in place,it seems to need an input from the cd. I've set the BIOS to boot from the hard drive, so why do I still need to have the cd in place? Any sugges...
