Puppy 4 series allows me to change the folder when I first shutdown and create a save file which is he...

dvd version testing

Really enjoying Muppy and have been busy trying it on various machines. We have noticed a problem here that sometimes a window opens and the top of the window is hidden underneath the bar which has the 'start' button on. This is using the DVD version with the 'standard' window manager. Mostly it hap...

step 3

extracting the package? should be straightforward. compressed files like this opera one can be (single) clicked on and this should start the process of extracting. Puppy will ask you where to extract it to. Make sure the path in the dialogue box says /root and click 'ok' (if you don't select any pac...

Re: Problems with disk icons (hotplug?) and pfind

1. My PC has two cd drives (dvdr, combo). With a CD in the secondary (sr1) and none in the primary (sr0), the sr0 icon is present and shows it is mounted! (Sr1 appears, unmounted (as expected - no problem with it.) The sr0 cannot be made to show as unmounted; pmount does not show it. Booting withou...

Not wanting to focus on Songbird - since a second machine with a second burning of the DVD of Muppy also finds Songbird not singing - AMAROK works - and is a great program. I asked on the forum a while back if it was possible to have it in Puppy. But to my (limited) knowledge it has not been done be...

update

recycler you can type: top in a consolewindow to check, how much resources are used by an application. The GtkBasic applications need a bit more, than programs written in C. This is not dramatic, but in the sum it might have an influence on your fan. Instead of top, you also can use "gps"...

recycler To reduce the fan usage, you might stop some programs. killall icedock killall conky Right-click the desklets in the taskbar - stop daemon. Use as desktop a different one, like Icewm with lxpanel. Maybe this solves it. Mark was wondering which ones to stop - thanks for the help with that :)
