Can't boot Puppy CD because Windows 10 drive is hibernating
I want to show off Puppy, and show it can access Windows files, but Windows 10 drive is hibernating, and Puppy (Slacko 6.3) cannot access the hibernating drive. I,ve tried disconnecting mains supply for a while, but not effective.
Any ideas?

Thanks- that works, except there's this weirdness: as I mentioned above, the left windows key is keycode 115, and the right hand key is 117. But for MINT, on the same machine/keyboard, they are the standard 133 and 135. How can that be? I've put the script in ~/startup, and it runs OK at start. Gerry

yes, of course I did as you suggested, and got the right answer. However, when I tried it with the native functions, I did not get anything in response to --help or -h. I'll post the script as soon as I find out how to do it- I tried to do it as an attachment, but .sh is not allowed, nor is .txt, an...

Mapping keyboard keys to act as mouse keys SOLVED
I obtained a script to map two unused keys to act as mouse keys, because the mouse keys on my old original Acer Aspire One are difficult to use. The script is basicly the three commands: setxkbmap -layout gb xkbset -m xkbset exp = m xmodmap -e "keycode 133 = Pointer Button1" xmodmap -e &qu...

Tried Mepis MX14 today- grrr! It does not have the drivers for my wireless interface, and gives a long convoluted command line process to get and install them. Probably because it's based on Debian, where the hair-shirt brigade don't want anything like that included- but they (Debian) do make it eas...

Boot Debian Jessie using Slacko and grub4dos
I have an IBM Thinkpad T60, triple booted with Slacko 5.7, Mint 17.1, and just installed Debian Jessie. Because Grub2 does not see a Puppy Frugal Install when it is looking for installed systems to make the Grub config and menu, I use Slacko and Grub4dos to look after booting. When I had only Mint a...

Will WOOF make a Puppy based on BSD?
Like it says in the title.... EDIT: my thinking is that eventually all the upstream app developers will assume that all Linuxes use systemd, so that NOT using systemd will involve some sort of compatibility layer or package modifications. Going with BSD would bypass that (potential) problem. For ins...

Semme... You didn't grasp my problem: how can I set up a firewall without knowing what services I need, what port numbers I need open, and so on. SSL? what's that? And so on... All I know is that I want to connect to the internet through my router (which gets full marks from Shields Up) and to the p...
