The drive was inserted on a usb3 hub...when booted directly from the computer port, xenial booted up. Do you mean the same USB3 port? Is the USB3 hub detected when you boot Puppy from a different device, like the optical drive? No...the USB3 Hub is not detected when Xeneial is running from the onbo...

Created a bootable USB using netbootin. The drive was inserted on a usb3 hub. When booted xenial did not recognize the drive (sdc1)....when booted directly from the computer port, xenial booted up.
