Got it working.
Took a line out of etc/host - 'multi on' and now it works fine.

Browser won't recognise dial-up connected (Solved)
Using Puppy 2.0.0
Serial external modem
GKdial wouldn't recognise modem on port, but forced it to use ttyS0 and it connected (can ping remote isp). BUT web browsers (Opera etc) don't think I'm connected and give 'Network error' as problem.
Someone must have come across this before.

1.0.5 HD install can't detect ethernet connection; CD can
I've installed 1.0.5 on a seperate partition. All seems to be working except it cannot detect an ethernet connection - if I run it from live CD it does!
