It would take a Windows user to decide to wipe a drive and assume there is absolutely no possible way to save the important data that's on it. Sticking a lightweight Linux in the cd drive would solve that problem, wouldn't it. Can any of you boys and girls think of a nice, lightweight Linux distribu...

It's really difficult to change someone if they don't want to change. I couldn't get my wife to use Linux until her Windows crashed and couldn't be resurrected without a new install. I said I might be able to get to it in a couple of weeks. Puppy was up and running in five minutes. She whined about ...

you can't beat cloud computing no matter how you look at it! If you don't believe this will be your future, you must live under a rock somewhere. That may be very true for most people, since most people live in cities with good internet access, but there are still people living out in the boondocks...

$185,000 to apply and $25,000 a year to maintain one.
Oh, that's a good deal. Maybe I'll pick up a couple dozen of them.

Using Firefox, I'm able to get to their site and I can start the process of signing up. I'm not actually going to sign up, so I can't test it any further than that.

Maybe take a look at this thread:

I would recommend that you do not do any kind of install until you've spent some time working off the live cd. Play around with it. Make sure it does what you want before you install. That's what the live cd is for.

Planting

Very nice work. Can you post a photo when it's grown in a bit?

Note: Dougal had posted a photo of a new garden bed he had built and planted. His post was accidentally deleted. Admins are looking to see if his post can be restored.

So easy to migrate

I've been having trouble with my old computer. I've had to open the case and blow a desk fan on the power supply so it wouldn't overheat. It's one of those machines with a compact case that take a special shaped power supply. When the power supply fan went out, I found a used power supply cost more ...

I don't think you can even have an argument with only one post. Maybe the solution is never to start.

The group, so far, only seems to exist as a poorly considered idea. The address doesn't even lead to a "Coming Soon" page.

After a bit of review, Puppy Linux FAQ seems a bit overly controlled for my taste. For example: Submissions of any kind to www.puppylinuxfaq.org also known as Puppy Linux FAQ become the copyrighted property of Gerard Carroll. No problem. I'm sure if you put your mind to it and invest some effort, you'll work out the problems with your site and get it working properly.

I see no need to complicate things with disposable email accounts. That would be like trying to keep track of too many credit cards. I'll just wait until you get the bugs worked out of your system.

Is there a problem with the web site, or is there some kind of gate-keeping going on. The site access situation seems a bit ... unusual. I would just as soon not expose my email account indiscriminately.

Puppy Linux FAQ seems to be broken. I assumed it was temporarily down for work, but after several days of trying, the site will not load.
