As a matter of interest, Kingsoft Writer shows Thai text formatted in a way which is very difficult to read. The software seems to break up clusters of letters randomly. Until this is fixed, it won't make much headway in this country. I tried both the full sfs and musher0's version with only western...

Gecko Edubook Xcore86+

Hi All, There is a new version of the Gecko Edubook out, with a new processor. It uses an Xcore86+ 1GHz processor; and there is an option to install 1 GB of RAM, too, which I have. Here is a bit of the announcement dated 2011-05-16 by Michael Barnes of Norhtec: "The new Xcore86+ is 70% faster t...

Re: Kompozer installation

Sorry, I must have done something wrong somewhere. I booted a fresh installation of Lucid Puppy 5.0 from quickpet and Komposer installed and opened successfully. Am having a problem in Lucid Puppy 5.0 getting the Kompozer installation to work. I installed it with the quickpet utility, but Kompozer w...

Kompozer installation

Am having a problem in Lucid Puppy 5.0 getting the Kompozer installation to work. I installed it with the quickpet utility, but Kompozer wouldn't start when I clicked on the links to it in the menu. I removed that quickpet installation and downloaded and installed the above kompozer-0.8b3 pet from t...

There is something else to make switching the keyboard layout from one language to another even easier. With the kbd-us and kbd-epo scripts in /usr/local/bin linked to the desktop as explained by Mu above, right click on the kbd- desktop links, then 1. click "Edit Item", then 2. click &quo...

Mu, denove, multe da dankoj.

I just didn't think about why you said to put links to the scripts on the desktop!

Now it works perfectly. Since I also use Thai script, I did the same for that. What a neat solution!

Thanks Mu. It worked, all except switching back to English script by typing "setxkbmap us" in the console. When typing the letter x in the console, something else appears, not x. I guess that's because x is not one of the Esperanto letters. The only way I could get back to English script w...

Multe da dankoj, Mu. I did not have the epo file, so I downloaded yours, then followed your instructions up to typing "setxkbmap epo" in the terminal window. Then I got this error message: "error loading new keyboard description" You said there might be some files missing. If you...

Esperanto keyboard layout

Ubuntu (and probably some other linux distros) include an Esperanto keyboard layout option, but Puppy doesn't yet. Would anyone who knows how, like to create a pet package, or otherwise instruct me how to type Esperanto characters in Puppy? The six characters in Esperanto which differ from the Engli...

Thanks phillc . I checked on my work computer Monday morning, and sure enough, zp430305.sfs had not been copied to the home directory. Now that I have rectified this, the problem is solved.

Thanks for the advice, [MOB]Trip. By nic do you mean a network interface card?

I don't think that can be the problem, as Puppy 421 still connects to the network perfectly well, yet on the same computer Puppy 430 does not.

I'm having the same problem as tssooma. Using Puppy 430 at work, when clicking on the network wizard I get this message: "Puppy cannot see any active network interfaces" along with the instruction to load drivers. When I click on "load module", and "specify" the drivers...

Mu - I forgot to say that if you want to start learning again, you could try the esperanto.pet package for Puppy Linux using the link above kindly provided by robwoj44 and MinHundHettePerro. It works fine.

Hi Mu. I also learned a little Esperanto many years ago, but gave it up because about all you could do with it then was to correspond with penfriends by snail mail. Since the advent of the Internet however, opportunities to use Esperanto have obviously grown. Another interesting development is that ...

Changing the name worked, thank you, but I have another problem.

I set the mp3 and wav player in this application to gxine. When I click on any of the audio links in the lessons, gxine opens, but everything then freezes. I'm using Puppy 4.1.2 by the way.

Is there a way to fix this?

Would someone make a .pet of Esperanto course .deb?

Would anyone have time to convert this deb to a Puppy pet package? I don't know how to do it myself. It's a text and audio course in Esperanto (an international language). Perhaps sometime others would like to use it too. Link to the deb: http://kurso.com.br/kurso-3.0.deb It's on this page: http://w...
