Just been off looking at my various puppies. Can't find v4l in them so the earlier post may not help.

I used muppywebcam to get my logitech cam working but that was in Puppy 3.1. I think it would have to be re compiled etc for newer versions and that is beyond me at this stage.

Ok Volodya. You at least now have some sort of picture. I remember seeing similar things when trying to get my cam going in Mepis. Now I don't know if this will help in Puppy but in Mepis I needed to use commands like this. LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so /usr/bin/wxcam LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib ...

Well its a while ago but I did get one to go with I think the same GSPCA. I think there was a pet that worked. Probably be for the wrong Kernel. Perhaps a search of the forum. Here are a few links that may help. http://www.moyo.me.uk/pupplinux/guide.htm http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php ...

Is the modem configured to use already? Is it a wireless or wired modem? Is it set up for WEP or WPA encryption if it is wireless? You should be able to click on the connection wizard on the desktop and read and follow the prompts. In my case when I hit connect the window gives several choices . If ...

When I use localhost:631 I also see only a few drivers however if I go to the printer wizard menu>cups>printer wizard and select add printer I get a message "Wait. Composing Gutenprint ppd files" . Now when I try to add printers I get the big list. Seems you need to enter from menu and not localhost ...

I have to admit not knowing much about apt-get other than having used it in other distros. I wonder if it is a repository thing. I don't know how it would be done or checked but do you have the right repositoy? Also had you done an apt-update? Probably of no help but might spark other ideas. John ...

I have puppy running in virtualbox on a Mepis Linux machine. You will need to install guest additions. Without them it won't work. Once you have that set up then create a shared folder in the host machine and a folder of the same name in the guest. I put a link to it it on the desktop. Here's what I ...

I'm using VirtualBox 3.0.12 r 54655 inside Mepis8 and puppy 4.3.1 installed and is running perfectly well. I don't know what to suggest other than checking your setup and the puppy disk. I used the disk and not the iso to install if I recall right.

So I have reinstalled puppy 4.30 to the usb stick using the universal installer. The xorg worked this time round and after I ran the rtl8187se pet I was able to connect and problem solved. Thanks for the replies people. tempestuous, Yes I'm using the rtl8187se driver. I tried modprobing both mac80211 and lib80211_crypt_wep as you asked. Display and wireless question eeepc701SD

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this. I just downloaded Puppy 430 and put it on a USB stick to try in my eeepc701SD. First up the display only seems to work in xvesa mode. A bit of a mystery as xorg works with other pups. Wireless didn't work so I tried Tempestuous's pet which appears to be ...

Hi vtpup, I think you know much more than I'll know. When you get to my age the learning process seems to get harder. You "hacked" together a very nice little pup. I'm a believer in having several on disks set up for different things. I have one that is never saved to that I use for banking ...

Hi robjonsco,

Look back down through the postings in Derivatives for the Puppeee thread.

I used the original Puppeee in a couple of flavours. I think the last was Pupeee b4 . Then more recently came the one with the widgets that I'm using now in my eee701.
