What I did instead was create a new file in my-documents, paste in the samba command and save. Then I set permission on the file to "make executable" and dragged a link to the desktop. Now when I boot up I click the desktop icon and I'm connected.

Here's the recompiled driver for puppy 3.01. Seems to work well.

Turns out it is in kernel-src_301.sfs. After installing this and devx_301.sfs I was able to compile the drivers I needed.
