I just installed the xfce .sfs. It works well, but there are two annoyances someone might know how to resolve: 1. I can't get it to show removeable devices. (I tried installing places, and that didn't help. I've tried with and without hotpup.) (For now, I just use pmount.) 2. I can't get xfce ...

phv-0.9.8 (puppy 3 package) clobbers dillo

I installed dillo and phv (among other things) on 3.01 using petget. When it was finished, dillo ran phv. (dillo was a symlink to phv). So, I uninstalled dillo and reinstalled it. Then, dillo worked fine but phv ran dillo! (phv became a link to dillo). The workaround: renamed /usr/local/bin/dillo to ...

solved

Well, I just went ahead and did gtf 1280 768 60.0 and added the modeline to xorg.conf, and it took care of the problem. I guess what I learned is that there needs to be a modeline under Monitors to correspond to the Modes under screen; otherwise some (nonsensical) default may be used. BTW, xrandr ...

lcd display resolution 1280x768, root window 1600x1200

I'm running puppy 3.01 on a laptop with a 1280x768 screen. I selected xorg. The closest monitor resolution on the list was 1280x800 (not x768), so I picked that. I chose 1280x768x16 on the next page of xorgwizard. My screen looks fine; however, the jwm taskbar is off the bottom of the screen ...

No, it doesn't; but thanks for trying. I can use devx-301.sfs just fine, but only if I put it in "/". I really want it in "/puppy301" (where the installed files and my pup_save file are located). BootManager doesn't help, not recognizing the file unless it's in "/". I'm thinking I need to tweak a ...

3.01 frugal; how to use devx_301.sfs in same directory?

I have a 3.01 frugal install on an ext2 or ext3 partition at /puppy301. The puppy install files and my save file are in this directory. However, when I put devx_301.sfs in the same directory, it is not recognized. I had to move the file up one level (i.e., in the root directory of the ext2/ext3 ...
