Audio card settings reverting on reboot
I know a number of people have similar problems. Often their posts go unanswered. There are a few suggested solutions out there, but none of them have worked for me. Ok, here are the details: 1.When I startup, there is no sound. 2. Run alsaconf and select the second recognized card: emu10kx1 3. Fini...

devx installed, make not found
In lucid puppy 501, I have the devx module copied to /mnt/home and i have it added in the boot manager to load at start-up, but "make" comes back with command not found. Any ideas?

devx loading, "make" command not found
Its probably something stupid, but I dont know what.
The boot manager says that devx is loading at startup, but when I try to "make" I get "command not found."
any clues?
Thanks.

flash drive wont read files larger than 112K
My flash drive wont read files larger than 112K. If I try to copy a file to my HD the copying process will never complete and the new file will never increase beyond 112K. Trying to open a small text file does not create a problem, but trying to open a large file on the flash drive will give a blank...

Abiword does not save my dictionary additions
When spellchecking in Abiword, if I choose to Add words, those words are again not recognized once I quit and and reload. Elsewhere it was suggested that I look for the file /root/.Abisuite/custom.dic . In fact the file did not exist. I created it manually as a blank file, went into Abiword, tried a...

xf86-video-intel
Im continuing to look for a way to get widescreen resolution on my "Mobile Intel 965 Express", which I posted about a few days ago. Some searching has turned up the idea that I should use a different driver, namely: xf86-video-intel . (Incidentally, when I try to use i810 I get a black scr...

xrandr has nothing useful. However, I just noticed something that seems relevant. When 915resolution is starting or trying to start it gives this error message. Intel 800/900 Series VBIOS Hack : version 0.5.3 Intel chipset detected. However, 915resolution was unable to determine the chipset type. Ch...

Another widescreen problem
Hi, All the following matters are true for both 2.17 and 3.01. I have a widescreen monitor, and I am having trouble getting X to give the screen its proper ratios. Under Windows the monitor operates at 1280x800x32. Neither Xvesa nor Xorg offer me options with similar dimensions, so I am currently ru...
