Me and a friends son in Maryborough Queensland, the birth place of PL Travers the author of Mary Poppins, it's an hours drive from home, went there for the 2018 Australian Human Powered Vehicle Event. https://www.frasercoasttechnologychallenge.com/

See the 3 minute video I took linked to the image below

It was, I was there visiting the Maryborough amateur radio club at the meet, they were providing the communications for the event, I heard a few were treated for heat exhaustion, it was 25C in the shade, so heat was a problem.

I know all the features of using the Celsius system and the US really needs to convert. :!:

But 25C does not seem like very hot when you compare it to 77F. :!:

Hot around here is 95F or above.
If it was 35C.
My US Fahrenheit mind would go "Get some warm clothing on, now"

We have mostly been using Celsius in the UK for quite a few years, but I still have to do a quick mental conversion to know just what the numbers mean.

Geoffrey must have meant 35C. 25C is quite comfortable for anyone. The English wear tweed when it's 25C.

In the sun it was a lot hotter, was nice in the shade with a light breeze, weird weather lately just coming out of winter so tend to feel the heat a bit, the kids in their velomobiles were feeling it too with all that exertion, was a 24hour race, the night time racers would of been fine, they removed the windows from this one due to heat.

Yes Flash was only 25C, cool if your doing nothing.

A motorcycle magazine once did a test to see if fairings made any difference. They found that taking off the fairings actually increased the top speed in at least one case and made little or no measurable difference in the rest.

Have these bicycles done similar testing?

I don't think it's about faster speed with the fairing, more about less effort required to maintain speed.

If it is 25 degrees in the shade then it's got to be a lot hotter in the Aussie sun - and then a lot hotter again inside a plastic fairing.

Hard enough for the Bathurst drivers where their motive power is petrol and the only human input is changing gear and stamping the clutch and brake pedals - but pretty hard I imagine for the youngsters pedal pushing all day in the Aussie heat. Well, ok - I guess it's winter.

I am no believer in "global warming" as a result of CO2 in the atmosphere, but I do believe that the overall global humidity is increasing and humans certainly feel that when exerting themselves and expending energy.

24 hours pumping pedals?? Crikey - give me a solar challenge any day! :-)

Mmmm, Bathurst !! It's not far away now....

I got banned for life from a certain US based forum for using the term RTFM and saying it was a recognised and well used reply in the computer industry.
The same forum wanted the technical staff to spend time teaching forum members how to use a keyboard.

Hello Burn_IT.

As everyone surely knows, the "F" in RTFM means "fabulous". I can't see why
one would get banned for life for having suggested to read a fabulous manual.

(Where's that tongue in cheek icon again?)

Actually in "delicate" circles we always used FLIPPIN' which scans better and caches out those who aren't listening properly.

In any case I was "set up" by one of the moderators who took exception to me being made an MVP when she was supposed to be the MS expert.
She did know a lot, but had serious trouble understanding that often the question being asked was the result of an earlier problem and it was better to dig a little and solve that rather than just answer the question.

I remember one particular one where the poster was having problems with the battery on their laptop. They bought several new batteries and still had problems. It wasn't until someone else mentioned that they lived in the same area and had had severe electrical storms at about the time the batteries started playing up that we tied it down to the power supply having been damaged.

MVP? Not a Minimum Viable Product, certainly!

I can't figure out which one of these it is, sorry.
