Warning! This may be hardware dependent and I haven't repeated (and will not) repeat it. I swapped the 4.20 kernel into a smoothly running lxpupsc64, version 18.06 +14 with the 4.19.10 kernel in my experimental directory. Update of the cleaned and fsck'd savefile, boot, tests all normal, video FPS down a bit but not much. Used it a bit, saved to savefile from my menu save2flash, all ok. I rebooted and it quite fubarred my BIOS! Black screen partway through the normal post X messages at shutdown and No video at all on startup. Tried a couple of startups from complete power off state, no Fujitsu splash screen or Grub4Dos menu etc. I then just let it sit and it did wait for the default time and booted into upupbb, my default pup, albeit with completely goofy video res. Rebooted from there, same. Shut down, power up, still no video on startup. I did a power button shut down, pulled battery etc., still no display on startup. Finally got to the bios setup screen with F2 on multiple starts and changed a couple of things, video internal flatpanel instead of auto.... and saved the settings to a shutdown. I did not have to reset the whole bios to defaults. Next poweron everything is back to normal. I'm back in lxpupsc64 with the 4.19.10 kernel at the moment and WILL NOT, WILL NOT run 4.20.0 again, at least on this series of lappies.peebee wrote:Kernel Release: 4.20.0-lxpup64

Just a note. This laptop is rock stable on all pups and at all times. Never a squawk out of it. The ONLY change was the 4.20 kernel in a previously very stable 64b pup. Quite a switch from my usual 'issueless' posts. No lectures needed on testing new stuff, someone has to do it and I enjoy it as a rule and some problems are to be expected, just not of this magnitude.
