Out of disappointment due to the lack of a decent, DE/WM agnostic screen magnifier, I wrote one myself.
It's inspired by Win XP built-in Magnifier.
The attached archive contains 32bit and 64bit PET packages (both built in Fatdog 721 rootfs), as well as source code.
Have fun &
Greetings!

Nice one, SFR. Excellent idea...
With MagDock, I've finally found a viable replacement for 'Virtual Magnifying Glass', a portable Windows app from PortableApps.com, which I've been running under WINE for some time.
When you run it, however, gKrellM temporarily 'freezes' (in fact, it's the entire X-server) until you click it off again. This one of yours, however, doesn't do that.
Brilliant! Cheers.
Mike.

Thanks, guys! Glad you like it.
I built VMG once and it's quite decent, but the frozen screen during magnification was a show stopper to me, too.
The best screen magnifier is the one in Compiz, but it's tied to it, obviously...
Greetings!
