Still using Tahr 605 although I have stripped the old Palemoon browser and replaced it with a newer Seamonkey. Now I have the last "newer Seamonkey" to run with glibc2 libraries. The latest browsers are going to require glibc3 libraries and maybe a newer Puppy. A real sad state of affairs as your browser is now dictating which operating system to use.

Yes, I've tried it and I got quite impressed. Good work!
Now, due to job pressures, I was obliged to make the jump to 64bit so I had to leave my beloved dpup stretch 7.5 RC2 32bit.
Nonetheless, I was lucky to find dpupbuster64 8.0.0. So far, a worthy succesor

a real Puppy please, no tiny elephant or xyz-saurus
for my active PC's, they are:
64 bit
QUIRKY Wary-6.9.9
see the size at http://distro.ibiblio.org/quirky/quirky ... 4-6.99.iso
32 bit
Slacko 5.3
the version adapted for my PC configuration
see http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/puppy-5.3.3/
erasing the (now too old) built-in browser, you can remaster it UNDER 100 MB! THIS TO USE YOUR ACTUAL BROWSER AS *.SFS)

I can't at all consider a DebianDog a derivative of Puppy, since it is a variant of DebianLive. But others on here have said the same about it being a bad fit for the poll. It is certainly the most full-featured/frugal-installable/runnable-in-ram/capable Puppy-sized download OS available on the forum, but I don't see why it is listed in a Puppy derivative list so I won't vote for it.
As someone else said, some of the others on the list are actual Pups, and not derivatives. IMO, best Pup ever was either Puppy 2.17 or Puppy 4.3.1. After that the only ones I felt particularly positive about were Slacko 5.3.3 and GuyDog 5.0.1 (which was very fast/resource friendly as far as I recall). All of these proved to be very solid, fast, and reliable.

I think it's good that you're picking older Pups as favourites rather than always going for the latest ones. It you liked Puppy 4.31 (a good choice IMO), you might be interested in Darry's recent update, which runs some recent browsers and so is very usable today;

I think I will declare the best puppy ever as:d4rkn1ght wrote:Lucid/Precise/Tahrpup/Xenialpup/Bionicpup
"The one I just finished making for myself"
It runs on an EEEPC-701 and this much bigger box.
It has all the things I need on a computer.
The only difference is speed.
BTW: Editing a large video on a 600MHz machine is a long way from fast.
It did, however, finish the render after a few days.
