How to setup Sylpheed 3.3 to download mail from a provider?
How to setup Sylpheed 3.3 to download mail from a provider?
in CE Slacko Puppy 5.7.2?
It fails to do it.
It fails to do it.
Guessing it's a dated libs issue, go with a client like Thunderbird whose authentication methods are current.
You should be well on your way after installing the attached pet.

Thunderbird.
Install the pet then download Thunderbird.
Unpack and launch the Thunderbird executible. Set up's dead easy!

"It prompts me to login through Firefox" is a one time confirmation deal. If we had to, we could stuff FF in the dungeon.
BUT, because Seamonkey requires a more current glibc, you should dwnld and login with Pale Moon instead.
Lacking room on your drive, either zero your browsers cache or remove Seamonkey altogether.
This should allow you to regain lost space and swap in Mozilla based Pale Moon.

re:
If I can solve another issue then maybe I'd be able to swap in the portable F/f. I only run my CE Slacko Puppy in ram, which is 1.5 Gb. I don't really know where 750 Mb of it are. I only know Slacko takes up about 750 mb of Ram with the free space ...
If you haven't dwnldd email from the server, your browser cache must be quite large.
So, open /root with GdMap and see who's fat. It's in your "Filesystem" menu.
The cmd "df -h" will give you *available or free* space in drives.

I'd dump Seamonkey and move up to Palemoon myself.
You on the other hand sound as though you wanna keep that dated old dinosaur. So be it!
Moving along..
Dwnld this to /tmp. Rt-clk >> UExtract >> OK.
Go into the extracted palemoon folder and rt-clk >> Window >> Terminal Here.
Start palemoon with: ./palemoon &
Confirm your IMAP or POP email account by logging in and signing out.
If so desired, remove Pale Moon's user folders:
It's all cleared after you logout.

Don't worry about what's in /tmp./root/.moonchild productions
/root/.cache/moonchild productions
