Asking this question on a Puppy forum will obviously get you the same answer. Just try Puppy2.14 out on them from a Live CD to make sure they can use it.

If it suits them, do a "frugal" (co-exist) install to their hard drive, and keep a backup of the initial pup_save.2fs file somewhere (perhaps on an unmounted separate partition) after you've set up the network, desktop etc (best done when the pup_save is not loaded).

That way, if they somehow manage to make a mess of the installation, it should be easy to fix it. Would just be a case of renaming and moving the backup file to the boot partition. You may even be able to show them how to do it themselves. Only risk might be if they turn off the computer without shutting down properly; this requires text entry to restart next time (xwin / xorgwizard).

They may want Flash 9 to be installed (easy from a dotpet) for some of the online gaming sites. And perhaps java too.

Won't cost too much to try it out. Live CD loads in around 2 minutes. And the HD installation takes about 10 minutes (if you know what you are doing).

if the games on pogo.com are Shockwave games, Shockwave do not support Linux ... see: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=17689

Flash and Java games should work ... you need to install Java of course

you can backup Puppy simply by copying a single file

you can restore Puppy to the exact state it was in when you backed it up by copying the file back again

Puppy is a good o/s, it is relatively stable, but Puppy may not be ideal for everyone and every purpose
